I think bet/call is the way to go. Chances are he either has 99-KK or AhKh/Qh. IF he had a set he probably would wait until the turn to raise.

I just plugged some numbers into pokerstove assuming you are up against a FD and top 2 pair and 3 other random hands and it shows your OESD as having 13% equity.

I would have just checked the flop, hope the CO bet and call to bring in the PF limpers. You have to think you are against a FD and at MP3 probably has at least 2 pair. I don't know how the equity...

On the First hand I bet. There's a decent chance that your opponent hit a piece of the flop or a draw and will come along. Also a 7,9, or Q can kill any potential action.
