Re: Live straddle.

Ok, CDC is right if you're anticipating SSHE type behavior at the table (i.e. multi-way limpers behind in a straddled pot).

Re: Temporarily shorthanded.

Raise preflop.
Bet/fold flop.
Bet/fold turn improved, bet/fold river.
Check/fold turn unimproved (blank).

As played, bet turn.

But if they were any good, they should have 3-bet preflop whatever they're limping with here.

Re: Live straddle.

Are you ahead of UTG+1 or MP1's range? If so, I would call. If they're the type to treat live straddles almost like cold-calling raises, you could muck.

But if they were any good, they should...

Re: Hand caught in the Cookie Jar

I think you should bet the river, throw down your hand face-up and say "ship it" and tip the dealer $1. Hopefully he'll misread your hand and muck.

Re: How long do I withhold tips? Dealer mistake costs me $1800. (long)

Don't worry, you're still up $1200 Sklansky dollars! Just hope your landlord has read Theory of Poker.

Captain R, down more Sklansky dollars than he has real dollars.

Re: Hand caught in the Cookie Jar

Extreme tight wad raises UTG? If you don't see two matching letters, fold.

Re: Caught in the middle again.

Fold preflop. That's why, so you don't have to deal with these situations where you have no idea what is going on. Getting involved for 4 bets with 99 OOP in a 4-way pot is ridiculous. Re-read Ed...

Re: The MANIAC and the TAG

RESULTS:

I c/r turn, maniac 3-bets, TAG folds and I call down like the donkey I am. River I c/c and he says "full house good?" and shows J3.

I talk to TAG later and he said he had a pocket...

A couple of orbits later I open-raised KJo on the button, she defended her BB with QTo, c/c JTxx flop and turn and bet out on a T river, then smugly showed her hand and gave me a...

Re: How to tell girlfriend about amount of money spent playing poker

surfdoc is wise.

Anyway, I still don't understand why she doesn't like gambling. It doesn't make sense when she says it "cheapens her work" when you win, and then when you lose it's not good...

Re: November Low-Content Thread

Bay101 20/40:

Fish limps in EP, I raise in MP, folded back to fish who calls.

He stares at my face and checks dark. I bet dark.

Flop is A-J-3. He continues to stare at me studying my...

Straddling before the cards are dealt

Bay101 20/40:

SB posts, BB posts her blind and says "we chop, we chop!" because Bay101 only drops $1 if folded to the blinds and they chop (instead of the normal $5 drop).

I jokingly stick out...

Re: The MANIAC and the TAG

I think you guys are right, I should have donked the flop though. Maniac raising is a good thing since he's 2 to my left and this pot is big enough to try to win on the flop. If TAG 3-bets, it does...

let's suppose TAG had 88. Would it actually be right for him to raise in front of the maniac and try to blow people out of the water with dead draws to flush and straights?

Re: The MANIAC and the TAG

OK, he actually limps once in a while, so he's not a complete raising machine. But another hand exemplifying his craziness:

I open on button, SB 3-bets, maniac caps out of BB. We call.

Flop...

The MANIAC and the TAG

Bay 101 20/40:

BB: Me

UTG: Fish who doesn't matter

You guys are all right. Sometimes you fold AQo, sometimes you call AQo, sometimes you re-raise AQo.

2) Turn check and call.

Re: 3-bet or call with the second nuts

I think you're pretty f'd. I can't imagine anyone capping with a 9-high flush.

That said, you can also call the turn and raise/fold any river as an alternative line. The advantages of this are...
