My bad, I just saw that you're not a big fan of clubs. In Paris, you'd have the most luck with bars at Place de la Bastille or Rue Oberkampf.

My suggestions for Paris include Caberet (my favorite) or Showcase. Both charge covers, 20 Euros for Cab and 10 for Showcase. You might get different feedback from a French person, but those would...
