Home field advantages?

Do any game hosts have any home field advantages? As a regular host for years now, I know there are disadvantages to hosting (pertaining to game play, not to mention things like having to clean up,...

Re: Eating At the Table -- Yes or No?

Like my mama said; "If you don't have enough to share with everyone, then it's rude." And we all know poker players are never rude.

I stopped going to a game because the host would ALWAYS throw a...

Re: To correct, or not to correct, that is the question.

ah, now I see... precedent, not president. Funny. I probably have misspelled it like that a hundred times. Thanks for the help on the poll, but more-so for the vocabulary/spelling lesson....

To correct, or not to correct, that is the question.

This problem arose in my last home game. I'm a bit unclear as to the exact details, but I think that is kind of the point...

A hand involving three players and a side pot and main pot occurred....

Re: Burning cards

OK, to address the random cards comment: I am a believer in the 'fated' cards. I believe that after the deal, I am to get to play the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 8th card, without exception. The...

Re: It\'s time for the R Word...

I play in a similar game as you propose. This is how it is handled, and I seem to like it. When we buy in, $20 gets you $19 in chips (you can adjust as needed) but I like it because nobody ever has...

Re: Dealer forgot to burn a card

Each time I read this I come away from it thinking something different. It sounds like the dealer going back to the fated cards to correct his own error in his own house was probably the best choice.

Re: Dealer forgot to burn a card

[ QUOTE ]
The only real question is whether you are going to value the cards that were "pre-destined" to come, or not. Since having the fated cards is important to many players, and this value is...

Re: Dealer forgot to burn a card

Thank you. This will be printed and taken to the game tonight that I go to, and where the error occured. The most common errors at this game are based on dealing. The host uses cheap decks of...

Re: Dealer forgot to burn a card

[ QUOTE ]
Looking at Burn Cards is not in the same category, although I agree it’s a bad practice that should be discouraged. Unlike looking at the muck, which will always reveal information about a...

Re: Dealer forgot to burn a card

Thank you all for the numerous viewpoints. This happened at our Wed. game and was still a heavy discussion last night at our Fri. game. The view point that the cards are random and missing a burn...

Dealer forgot to burn a card

This lead to some drama at our usually non-dramatic game this week: 17 players, down to 4 (all in the money), actual cards are insignificant I believe (3 of the 4 players in the hand, two of them...

It does not have lemonade however. I play some crazy games and have never come accross that one before.

Re: Good first table?

I agree. My three tables are all ex-kitchen tables with carpet padding (very cheap) and nice fabric (does not need to be felt) wrapped and stapled underneath. After a while I then added a wood edge...

Re: Any ideas on ranking players?

[ QUOTE ]
If we have 40 players there, then 1st gets 40 pts, 2nd gets 39 pts, 3rd gets 38 pts... and so on.
