Re: Playing Home Poker Games For Real Money..

You forgot the most important rule of juicy home games--your first goal is to get invited back. Second is to win money.

Re: Very Simple Straightforward 2/4 Question

SSHE also says to always call one bet back to you if you've limped in. 2 bets back is a different story, you need to tighten up almost as much as if you were cold calling in the first place.

Re: B&M 3/6 flopped small full house

Why do you want to knock people out? You have a monster, the pot is small, everyone else is drawing nearly dead. Call and let them all in. Your equity is probably 90% or better. Raising will...

Re: Getting Killed in Vegas 2/4 Games and Can\'t Find a Way Out

You asked "How do you deal with these very loose, very passive games?"

The answer is to play tight, adjust starting hands with position, and most of all value bet relentlessly with moderately...

Re: Reasonable hourly rate?

Yeah, I started out playing longer sessions but now I'll sit for less than an hour when waiting for 4/8, 6/12, etc. My last 24 "sessions" are less than an hour, many are like .1 or .2 hrs

Re: Reasonable hourly rate?

I don't really play 3/6 anymore unless I'm waiting for a bigger game, but here are my numbers since March of last year when I started playing at b&m's in L.A.--

102 sessions
297.7 hours

Re: What happened to the Professional Poker Tour?

yeah that's why I gave up on it. Seif was horrible and the other guy did nothing but spout cliches every chance he got.

Re: Do house rules typically permit use of a monocular at the table?

At Hawaiian Gardens it's printed right on the table: "ENGLISH ONLY AND NO MONACLES WHILE THE HAND IS IN PLAY"

Although I have to say, I won a lot more before I started to try to learn and practice using pot odds.

Re: Sweet 4-8 Commerce game, 99 overpair on the turn

you must bet here. the pot is big and your hand is vulnerable to so many overcards.

Re: Checked pocket jacks preflop in BB, agree or disagree?

Jacks are a premium hand and have a big equity edge over the junk your opponents are playing. It doesn't matter that an ace will often flop. The times you hit a set or flop 3 undercards to your...

Re: Pooh Bah Dissertation Chapter 1: Big Pots vs Small Pots

This concept is expanded on in Ed Miller's limit dvd series. It's a good set to check out after studying SSHE.

Re: smooth vs cold call

Smooth calling is calling a raise when you have a decent chance to have the best hand and want to punish an early player's aggression. Cold calling is when fish call my under the gun raise with KT...

Re: More 4/8 fun

grunch--

1: easy peel, 11:1 for 2 pr or weak ass back door draws is fine, especially closing the action.
2: I probably call this live still getting 11:1 closing the action, but with time to...

Re: $75 buy-in live SNG, is this unethical?

Of course it's unethical. I would not speak to the dealer, I would speak to the floor immediately. Everyone else at the table should be on their case too, not just you.

Re: Would a B&M TAG have the same VPIP as an online TAG?

I do it all the time. That's how I beat small stakes games. It isn't easy to not play a hand for 90 minutes but that's the discipline you need sometimes. And then I'll pick up a big pocket pair,...

low M, 88 in the sb vs early position raise

PS Hundred Grand. I've been at this table a while. I've shown down pretty solid hands, M at 5.2. Villain (28.1/21.9/0 over 32 hands) is one of the chip leaders. He's raised the last 3 hands in a...

Re: Protecting hand in small pots...

yes the chances of your hand being best are much higher when you have top pair vs 2 opponents, regardless of your kicker. make someone pay to hit their ace on the turn.
