Re: Stud8 15/30 live with maniacs...

yes, everyone I get it, the standard play in average pot size like this is to fold a brick for a raise even with the wheel draw, but this situation needs to be thought out.

if you believe pretty...

Re: 1/2 8/b: How\'s my 6th street raise?

keep in mind it's 1/2, where playing solidly on all streets will take the money - there's little gained and a lot lost when trying to represent hands you don't have, as you will need to show down...

Re: Getting Jammed on 6th st. with a made low

[ QUOTE ]
And if you're going to fold on the river for one bet, you should definitely have folded to the double re-raise on sixth.

That was what bothered me about my play too. ...

Getting Jammed on 6th st. with a made low

Should I have folded immediately to the 3-bet on 6th st? What about the river?

7 Card Stud High-Low ($3/$6), Ante $0.25, Bring-In $1 (hand converter...

Re: Stud8 or Razz??

i think stud8 is good for hand reading skills because of the additional reasons a player could be showing strength .. you're forced to think of additional ranges of hands, and it's fun to manipulate...

Re: Folding a Pair and Low Draw on 5th

nice analysis alchemist, and I agree with you lumping spsk with flush draws with two babies - these hands are problematic, particularly against aggressive opponents. I'm not crazy about any hand...

Re: Folding a Pair and Low Draw on 5th

My thinking was in line with Alchemist and Andy - if my board was weaker looking, I would have been more inclined to continue with the hand.

I usually play this hand more agressively on 3rd st....

Folding a Pair and Low Draw on 5th

Seat 3 is a selectively LAG, thinking player who generally gives me a lot of respect, and has limped with powerful lows from up front pretty often.

7 Card Stud High-Low ($3/$6), Ante $0.25,...

Re: Stud /8 1/2 line check?

andy, what if hero had a perfect 7 - would you jam the river then? If the villian has a str8 there's a good chance hero's 7-6 low is the best hand, but it probably is overly aggressive .....

Re: Stud 8- 3rd street/bring-in situations

good points, yeah high pairs are dangerous but they are an important part of mxing up one's game- you do want to play buried pairs with baby doors so when you raise with a low str8 or flush draw...

Re: Stud 8- 3rd street/bring-in situations

You are on the right track to being a strong stud/8 player. You are asking the right questions. Hand values change dramatically based on live cards. Other important factors are the agressiveness...

Re: .50/1 stud/8 - jamming like a lunatic

yes, you have a live wheel draw with great door card, complete the bet.

jamming 6th is a reasonable play with a very good low and a board lock on that street. since you're playing for 1/2 the...

i like the villians play - try calling that river bet with your lonely pair of threes.

Re: 1/2 Stud 8/b: Playing a Hi hand

yes, the reason to raise is generally to limit the field, and that seems unlikely here. limping in from late position is a nice way to play big pairs for a several reasons:
1 you can get away from...

Re: $10/$20 Stud 8.

i favor a call on 5th only because of the deadness of the low cards you might need, but with the treys live I couldn't fault it much. if you had 6 instead of 4 scoop outs I'd go ahead and jam it.

Re: stud hi lo situation with split kings

it's clear you have a stud high mentality interfering with sound 8/b strategy. Middle pairs shouldn't be played except HU vs the bi, even with your kicker. You must be reasonably sure you have the...

Re: quick stud 8/b question

nothing wrong with folding 4th but you can take one off heads up and fold 5th if you're hand becomes dead, he catches another baby, or he pairs his door. smaller pots your hand should instantly hit...

Re: Bremen\'s continuing adventures playing stud8

as everyone agrees, play positional poker with the high hands. muck kings utg. in loose games you should strongly consider doing the same with aces and a 9-k door. Use position to get the right...

Re: Stud8 hand #2 (possibly just as boring)

3rd st. - bad idea to reraise, only because the low is pretty dead. I would bet 5th hoping to take it down and tossing my hand if raised, because of the dead cards. Hero showed aggresion on 4th,...

Re: .05/.10 Stud 8 in HORSE what did I do wrong??

high drawing hands are money losers in stud 8 because typically your odds are cut in half. Try to play live big pairs which are obviously the best high hand on 3rd and play them against at most 2...

Re: 8/b-Facing a possible move from the Loose Imaginative BI

thanks, all your points are well taken concerning the weakness of the hand; i should have mucked in this agressive game with the 8 up.

Re: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ARE YOU [censored] KIDDING ME 5/10 STUD 8

Re: Actual serious post 5/10 Stud 8 I play bleh today

[ QUOTE ]
He's not scooping with a FH anyway, since we have a low. We're really only afraid of a low+diamond flush, which is pretty unlikely and we beat a fair number of them anyway.
