How does a tighter payout structure affect variance and winrate?

Suppose you're beating ten-handed games with 50/30/20 payouts at 15%, and we'll assume you are the only player who has any grasp of how drastically play changes on the bubble. If the ten-handed game...

Overpair vs a maniac

5/10 on a site without pokertracker support, Villain is much too loose preflop (limping J8o and K3o in late position), too aggressive postflop (with what appeared to be a free-showdown raise with...

Re: When are you pot-committed?

If you're pot committed, it's because you misplayed the flop.

Re: How do you control swings/tilt/FEELINGS

I tilt just as much as the next guy, but I am so terrified of making -EV decisions that in the end it doesn't matter if i'm a little miffed anyway.

Ace on the River has some really good sections, too.

Re: Live STTs: How much rake is beatable?

They run all weekend long for sure.

I posted this same topic months ago with the Turning Stone structures and was told that, yes, they're beatable, but probably not for a worthwhile hourly after...

Re: Switching from Online to B&M...When should I stop and reavaluate?

12 hours @ 25 hands/hour = 300 hands
not a significant sample size
play more hands, you will come out on top
you still have a long way to go before your swing gets unrealistic and becomes your...

Semibluff equity

I have the nut flush draw on the turn heads up against a calling station with a made hand. He will likely never fold on the turn or on the river, nor raise on the turn, but he may bet if checked to....

Re: Totally new poker strategy, want to get your input

you're not 35% likely to win when called. Closer to 20%.

Minimum buyin of 20BB, push called 4% of the time. When called, you are 25% to win. Pot is 2.5BB (including limper, who folds some percent...

Re: TPNK against a fancy lad, live 15/30

Seems WA/WB and IMHO the fold is OK given your read. Wait till you have a better hand then pound him.

Re: Since when is top set a tough hand?

It hurts them real bad when you fill up with your redraw on either the turn or the river.

Re: How much vig is too much vig?

Since reasonable is different for everyone, I would want to make 10-12 bucks an hour, which seems like an astronomically high ROI.

How much vig is too much vig?

The local B&M offers $30+6 speed sit-n-gos (hourly) that look pretty soft to push-bot. Can I realistically make up 20% of my buyin and then turn a reasonable profit? Assume I could play one an hour....

Next time, When do you recommend I raise?

Live 2/4: Overcall?

I am in the SB with A2h; there are 5 limpers and I complete. I flop the nut flush:

Qh Th Xh

I check as I do most anytime I catch a hand in the SB. It checks around to the button, who bets. I...

($11) Flop check OOP

What do you guys think about checking this flop? I was planning on a line of pot-betting the turn if a blank came. It didn't. The two cold calls were what scared me, I thought it was very possible...

Re: I never know what to do here and I always seem to be wrong

Well, you have to bet. If he doesn't fold, I give up on the hand. I might double-barrel if the flush comes on 4th.

Re: Top 2 on monotone board

We cannot discard the following hands:

AAh,KKh,QQ,JJ,TT,66
AhQ,AhJ,A/Kxh
QJ

He would be more than happy to raise here for perceived value OR to define his hand with;
AAh,KKh,QQ,JJ,66,AhQ,AhJ...
