Re: Doyle is my hero

I think Sammy said something like:

"You think I didn't know I had the best hand, Doyle?"

Re: let\'s get the facts straight: poker makes money

"And what, may I ask, do you think most of these players waiting to play poker are doing?"

If they are anything like me, they are pacing and/or watching games from the rail until a seat opens up....

Re: let\'s get the facts straight: poker makes money

I don't know about the Vegas casinos, but in the two casinos I have experience with (Fallsview and Rama in Ontario), slots take up close to 80% of the floorspace. It's obvious to me that slots are...

Re: The Life Cycle of a Poker Player (and my thoughts on live vs onlin

I was considering a larger number - say the top 70 or 100.

It the same thing as when parents push their kids into sports - tennis being the prime example. Nearly all the top players started when...

Re: Which Poker game has the least amount of luck?

Sort of off topic,

If you were to create a "standard" big-bet mixed game and had to choose 4 or 5 games, which would they be. The object would be to choose the games that tested as wide a range of...

Re: The Life Cycle of a Poker Player (and my thoughts on live vs onlin

I'll chime in with praise for Brandon as one of the best poker writers around.

Someone mentioned that top bridge players can stay world-class into their 50s. I think there is a demographic issue...

Re: Harrah\'s Online Poker=Huge WSOP!

Does this mean that Harrah's is going to allow 3rd party registrations to the WSOP again? If not, it will have limited impact.

Re: Phil Hellmuth best holdem player by far

For those that are serious in defending Hellmuth as a tournament player - please address this:

Why have his WPT results been so mediocre, when a lot of the best tournament players around (by...

Re: Full Tilt Poker and WacoKidd

Ted Forrest hardly plays tournaments. He's a cash game 7-stud and 7-stud8 genius.

Re: Grinding2Ecstasy

I don't think Barry is the example you want to point to to support your ideas about poker.

Barry Greenstein still plays poker for a living. It's just that he's made...

Re: Phil Hellmuth best holdem player by far

I'll assume that most of the responses here are levels.

In the last four years, Hellmuth has won one heads up invitational and a couple of low buy in super donkaments at the WSOP (nearly every pro...

Re: Who is your most disliked player?

I laugh every time Hellmuth assesses his own poker abilities.

After saying that there are maybe 3 or 4 players in the world better than him at Omaha8, they go on to show him playing two hands that...

Re: Being told \"professional poker doesn\'t contribute to society.\"

"Poker certainly has no positive effect on physical health. "

But it does develop various intellectual and personality traits that are useful and largely lacking in the general populace.

Re: Ram Vaswani speaks about that \'Golf Game\'.

I'm not romanticising or justifying welching. I'm putting it on a moral par (pardon the pun) with intentionally misrepresenting your handicap. Is that so hard to understand?

It takes a certain...

Re: Ram Vaswani speaks about that \'Golf Game\'.

I love it how people think it was cool for Ivey to hustle Ram by misrepresenting his handicap, but it's uncool for Ram to "hustle" Ivey by refusing to pay.

The two are equivalent in my book.

In...

How about getting a full time job to support herself?
