Re: Journeyman

I like the ex-fiance. Easy on the eyes.

Just seems like a bad concept, not very well written. Kind of a mix of Quantum Leap meets Highway to Heaven?

And I was hoping good things for this...

Re: The Worst Song I\'ve Ever Heard

But I'll nominate "Life is a Highway" by Tom Cochrane for most inane chorus. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCPbL4yA7ik

I might have to change my vote to this... "Life...

Re: HBO\'s \"Tell Me You Love Me\" Drama w/ simulated sex

It's a pretty heavy show, so anyone watching it expecting Cinemax-style soft porn will be disappointed. I was actually pretty impressed with the show overall. It's definitely not just there to...

Re: Most disappointing movie ever (high expectations, but flopped)

Godzilla -- a year before it was released, he teasers for this movie had crowds fired up... the movie had tons of hype... and then it sucked beyond belief.

Matrix Revolutions -- instead of the...

Re: List all things that make a home poker game good , or better

As far as #5 (professional atmosphere), I think a home game can be both relaxed and fun, but still run smoothly (not sure if "professional" is the right adjective)...

I think the things to try and...

[ QUOTE ]
The no fooling around is lame. By the end of the night, if we aren't drunk, yelling at each other, and acting like idiots, I consider the night a failure.

Snacks: there aren't many...

Re: Poker Cards

Stick with KEMs or COPAGs... You can get them at a good value on eBay, brand new...

Personally, I generally like the look of the COPAGs over the Kems, but the Kems seem to have a slightly nicer...

Re: Need help beating my home game

Sounds like you've already identified your problem.

Avoid fancy-play syndrome... Don't get clever. Play solid, TAG poker and get your chips in with value... Don't bluff calling stations.

Re: Who will win: Dog or Football team?

The thing the anti-dog people are missing is that it's really not going to be 11 vs. 1 on the field...

Let's assume the dog dances around a bit, then takes off to the far right side of the field....

My point is I have caught dogs that didn't want to be caught. I have never attempted to catch a cheetah.

Re: Professional No-Limit Hold \'em Volume 1 Review Thread

I'm about a third of the way into the book, and so far, it's one of the best poker books I've read in a while...

No disrespect to Sklansky or Mason, but this trio of writers just do a much...

Re: Know any good books for full NL ring games?

Phil Gordon's Little Blue Book isn't bad. It's the follow-up to his "green" book, but does a focuses a lot on full ring cash games. It's more hand analysis and examples than theory, but it's an...

I have a notebook I've been putting together for a similar purpose, mostly with keeper articles and notes from books. I have mine divided into more general categories: odds/theory, no-limit cash...

Re: NL25 set on a scary board

I hate that weak turn bet. With all those draws out there, you're charging him very little to see a river card. I'd bet at least 2/3 or 3/4 pot here. Force him to make a tougher decision. You're...

Re: 50NL: Pretty lost here

His line is very tight, so it's reasonable to imagine he's got an overpair. I think that cuts down on a few of your outs here... Kc or Qc or Jc might give him a boat.

You've got a one in 5...

Re: $50NL : AK - limp reraise

1) Raise more preflop. At least make it $7. Or just call preflop... Your raise wasn't enough to really define his hand, or induce a fold, but it built the pot you'd have to play out of position the...

What's your plan if you flat-call and he c-bets the flop? What will you do if the flop misses you buy villain checks? What kind of flop will make you happy?

I think the question with...

Re: Overpair facing shove

Good fold.

Unless you have some clear read that villain is super loose, what do you put him on here? Against a typical opponent, I rarely see three-bets preflop with junk. Some guys get cute...

Re: NL 25 87-line check

I don't think you did anything wrong, other that maybe over-betting the flop a bit. If villain has a King, that heavy re-raise might convince him he's beat. I'd rather see KQ KJ KT or some call...
