Re: Advice on KK hand, plus question about moving up in stakes

Yes, I realized after my flop bet got called in two places that not only would the big guy have the right odds for a flush draw on the flop, but that I hadn't left myself enough behind to price a...

Advice on KK hand, plus question about moving up in stakes

I started playing 1/2 NL in a local casino a few months ago and enjoyed pretty good success. Slowly, I built my poker bankroll up to about 5K. I decided I was ready to move up to 3/5 a couple of...

Re: Moving in from SB with K9 off with M of 6 after one limper

Thanks to all for their feedback.

A few clarifications:

1)there were no antes. In this particular tourney there are never antes.

2)I did not expect to be ahead if called by the big stack,...

Re: Moving in from SB with K9 off with M of 6 after one limper

I knew I was behind his limping range. The issue was whether he would play. Online, I definitely would not make that move because online players are much more likely to look me up. But in live...

Moving in from SB with K9 off with M of 6 after one limper

Casino tourney with a $50 buy-in. 200 players or so start, down to about 80 at the end of level 5. Only the last 10 players get paid. Blinds at 400/800, going to 500/1000 in about 4 minutes. I'm...

Re: AA in first hand of a tourney

Thanks to all for your feedback. I see now that raising the flop is probably the theoretical best idea. For any who are curious, her actual hand was Q /images/graemlins/diamond.gifJ...

First hand of the tourney at a local casino. $50 buy-in, 35 players, mixture of skill levels, but most not all that good. Starting stacks are 5000. Blinds start at 100/200 with 12 minute rounds. Due...

Re: Is variance too great and my BR too small to play this tourney?

I play a lot of these low buy-in tourneys in Seattle-area casinos. In my experience, the level of play is godawful, but that doesn't mean a good player will always (or even usually) cash. If the...

Re: QQ in BB late in tourney after 3 all-ins

I should have mentioned pay-out. Only 3 places paid: 1st $280, 2nd $168, 3rd $112.

QQ in BB late in tourney after 3 all-ins

Live $25 NLHE tournament. 28 players started, 10 left. This is the first hand at the final table, and the other 3 players involved were not at the table I was moved from, so I have no reads on any...

But doesn't that make it more likely that they are going to come over the top, thinking that my raise means I don't want to commit my stack?

Re: AQs in BB versus LRR

I was hoping someone could clarify why it is important to notice what direction a player is looking. Is this some tell I've never heard of? Please clue me in. Thanks.

Re: Flopping a set on suited flop

Thanks for the feedback so far. More info:
Opener had 4,700. BB had roughly 8,000. 2 callers who folded later had between 4,000 and 5,000. Also BB checked before opener bet his 2,000.

Okay, I'm new here. I didn't realize it was a faux pas to post a detailed hand analysis. I have looked around enough to realize most replies are very short; now I know why. Personally, I find...

Let's see what you know about where you are in the tournament and about the other players. It's still early enough that everyone involved in the hand has a full range of options: Joscha's M is 23.4,...

Re: At what point should i have known i was beat

God, I can make some stupid mistakes when I'm tired. In the last paragraph of the previous post, I should have said that if he was playing A8 or K8 he just made a boat and has you beat, so KQ is the...
