Re: Tried to steal...flopped a monster...screwed it up?

I think leading out is also a decent play and on second thought, perhaps the better one. A hand like a small pair or even just an ace may be tempted to call you down. You mentioned that he had...

Re: what am i supposed to do here

OK, I thought you meant a king in general. I wouldn't expect ace-king to usually fold either.

Re: Quick quiz

The question of a typical player's range does depend on the game: whether it is online/live, what casino/site, what time of day, previous action at table, etc.

I guess my range was a bit more...

Re: what am i supposed to do here

Just reread that person's post and noticed the double negative. Not sure if it was intentional, but if he's not not folding, that is not what we want, right?

Re: what am i supposed to do here

I was responding to the person who said "your shove was good, hes not folding not folding a k here". I have no problem with you disagreeing on the size of the flop bet, people will often disagree on...

Re: what am i supposed to do here

I was not aware that the stadard play was instacalling with any king when your check-raise is re-raised all-in for 12K more when there is 7500 in the pot, sorry about that.

Re: Quick quiz

A) A9, A8, 9T, TJ, TT, JJ, 44, 88, 99, many Ax and connecting club possibilities. I think with QQ, KK or the other AA the typical player will typically have reraised preflop or led out or...

Re: what am i supposed to do here

Your 600+SB 600+BB 200 is 1400. I think 1000 into 1400 on that board is too small.

Re: AKo in the SB against a large field - early in MTT

I used to limp quite a bit from the SB with AK and AQ when there were other limpers in the pot. I've gotten away from doing this and the more limpers, the less likely I am to limp.

The problem is...

Re: what am i supposed to do here

Just wanted to add, I don't think yours was a terrible play. A pair of aces versus a set on a drawy flop like that is always going to result in losing a lot. Even if I had done it my way and bet...

Re: what am i supposed to do here

I think I would have bet more on that flop. I would probably bet the size of the pot or maybe even a little more since it was such a drawy board.

As played, I do not like the shove. He's only...

Re: Tried to steal...flopped a monster...screwed it up?

I think the preflop raise is ok if he's been limping a lot, but it is too small. He is getting almost 3-1 to call and has position. You both have enough of a stack that any limping hand should be...

Re: Nick Schulman\'s CardPlayer.com Interview

Yeah, that was pretty worthless. Was I the only one wondering what his left hand was doing in his right sleeve for half the interview?

Re: The Life Cycle of a Poker Player (and my thoughts on live vs onlin

Very interesting and thought-provoking article.

I don't think it is fair to discount the opinion of live players who haven't had success in online games. The skill set for playing live is far...

Re: I\'m having a problem

Unfortunately, this seems to be a widespread problem. While we have many advantages that other societies, past and present, did or do not have (clean water, medical care, etc.) we have a major...

I think the advice to start some kind of exercise routine or get a punching bag is solid. I used to have major anger problems when I was a teenager, punching holes in walls, breaking things, etc. I...

Re: Folding KK pre-flop???

There are times laying it down can be the correct play but they are quite rare. It can happen in cash games but you'd probably need relatively deep stacks and some knowledge of the way your opponent...

Re: Arizona State Poker Championship

I do think the structure of the tournament as far as the rounds and blinds went was good. My only complaint would be the break intervals. After the first break, it was 3 45-minute rounds between...

I played in the evening...
