Re: Working out the percentages - seventh street
Often you can make reasonable inferences about hole cards. For example if someone is betting agressively against a threatening board, it follows that he has good cards in the hole. I thought of this...

Re: David Singer
Ideally we would have clear rules uniformly enforced. Incidents like this one show up deficiencies in both the clarity of the rule, how the rulebook wording is publicized, and how enforcement. All...

Re: re-raise fold?
I'm over my head here but will add my 2 cents anyway.
Since you did not raise third, he may be putting you on a 3 flush plus 5's. Since the 6 /images/graemlins/spade.gif is out, you cld even have...

Re: Non Poker Strategy Books to Read
I'm surprised no one has mentioned "The Biggest Game in Town". I'm blanking out on the author, an English writer and poker diletante writing about the WSOP and Vegas poker in the 1980's. Doyle...

A little sideways to the main topic, but...
When people talk about a long term win rate they generally speak as if the only variables were stakes and card-catching. But I wonder how realistic that...

July thru October I had been doing nicely on Stars at $1/$2 Stud high, averaging about 4 BB/100. Then the bottom fell out in November. I've now dropped back to $.50/$1 and am slightly a loser there...

Re: Other games that help your poker playing?
I think there's a personality that takes naturally to game-playing. Pleasure in problem-solving and competitiveness are both important. For myself, I'm a coffee house sort of player at chess,...

I asked Keith Sexton why they shuffle hole cards, he said since you have no idea what a player started with Live, why should you online? Good point Keith.

How Do You Play this on the End?
Seat 7 is a respectable moderately aggressive player.
Do you bet the River? Do you call the raise?

Re: Rolled 8\'s in a Big Multi-Way Pot
I am a little surprised that Seat 7 didn't raise initially on 3rd -- but he did call a three-bet before the round was over. I really wish I had put in a raise on third & fourth -- I might well have...

Re: Rolled 8\'s in a Big Multi-Way Pot
The main lesson I take from this is to bet my trips aggressively early in this sort of pot with big cards out in several hands.
Seat 7 and Seat 2 both looked very threatening to me on 5th/ 6th --...

Rolled 8\'s in a Big Multi-Way Pot
Seat 7 is a loose player but not outrageously so. Seat 8 and Seat 1 are not very good. Seat 2 is an unknown.
On 3rd I didn't 3-bet thinking I wanted lots of people in the pot. But with so many...

Re: Lots of Decisions
What villain actually had was Qs Jc in the hole. Made Broadway on the river.
I did a little twodimes research. On 4th I'm a favorite over his actual holding and 41% substituting Tc for Jc in the...

Lots of Decisions
On 4th, 7's 6's 8's 3's and 5's are all live; I'm last to act so thought it's worth seeing another card.
On 5th, I have an open-ended straight draw to go with my live 7's, so thought it's worth a...

Re: Versus Wild Man
Given this player's betting, he could have any random holding as his down cards. If my math is correct, that makes the likelihood that he hasn't got a five as a downcard about 85%.
The actual...

Villain this hand lost two $40 buy-ins in the hour or so I was at the table with him (or her). Raising more often than not on 3rd st and raising on later streets often with little to nothing.
