Re: Steve Badger\'s advice

Surley Badger's advice must be taken probabilistically. I have played in deep stacked(200B+) games where such advice would apply at a given time. It might later not apply when certain players go on...

Re: This game is killing me right now like I cannot believe (long)

Despite the fact the poster has more than when he started a wealth point reached from below is never the same as falling from above.

I'd read a good book, like say Fooled by Randomness by Nassim...

Re: PLO Aces up+FD vs. ?

Calling pre-flop is fine, but I'd fold the flop. If It were something like AT3 maybe call. You don't really know where you're at here so you're likely to be the one making mistakes rather than him.

Re: What IS Luck?

Read "Fooled by Randomness", by Nassim Taleb for the best answer to this question that has yet been written.

Re: variance in $x/$y PLO vs. $2.5x/$2.5y CAP PLO

Look I wouldn't use the kelly criterion to think about whether I should move up. There's alot of errors that could come to applying it to human decision making.

Re: variance in $x/$y PLO vs. $2.5x/$2.5y CAP PLO

The problem is that poker results are path dependent. Let me explain. Standard deviation does not differentiate between a series of small changes or a single very large change. Pete isn't quite...

Re: variance in $x/$y PLO vs. $2.5x/$2.5y CAP PLO

I am currently working on a way of thinking about risk in PLO. It requires an understanding of philosophy and mathematics instead of the blind application of models taken from regular casino games. ...

Re: Iowa - Bigger Games, where are they now?

Mark,

In Iowa both the O and the E stand for omaha eight or better when you're talking about a limit game. I was confused too when I first played there. I was like "Hey, you skipped the stud/8...

Re: \"crazy\" hypo

Ok maybe if were playing 6 card deep stacked omaha, but in all the hands I've played of 4-card omaha it's honestly never come up. There was a couple of hands I had in 6-card omaha where I did raise...

Re: WCOOP 6max PLO low-content thread

In the tourney any time you go out you have to give a reason. There HAS to be a reason with explanation in the tourney mind. Going out this early means that:
A) YOU SUCK and are awful and that I am...

Re: WCOOP 6max PLO low-content thread

Very nice thinly veiled brag but that means nothing in the tourney world. You win 6-max PLO tourney you're like one of the best ever!

Re: WCOOP 6max PLO low-content thread

It is, and these tournaments just sucker me in, what with their ridiculously bad play and their winner-take-all machismo payoff.

Re: WCOOP 6max PLO low-content thread

I don't have a job, so any amount of authority exerted upon me brings me back to feeling like a preschool student.

Re: WCOOP 6max PLO low-content thread

I'm in down maybe 200 chips. To me tournaments are like having a job, you can't leave when you feel like it and they tell when you can go to the bathroom.

Re: How often should you raise PF in a FR game?

I have like 150k hands of FR (that's all I played until recently), and my PFR over that sample is ~18. Not sure if that's optimal, but it worked for me.

You complain about short stacker's a lot, which makes me think that they beat you, but you win because you win enough off everyone else. You perhaps could have won more by losing less to...

Re: How often should you raise PF in a FR game?

Raise a little less with hands that do not contain an ace(and you would hate a reraise) when someone limps early. You will also sometimes just have to raise fold. Also adopt a 3-4bb standard raise...

Re: best pound for pound nation of poker players in the world?

British players are the best as they don't have to pay any tax on their winnings. All the rest of us have to be X(tax percent) better than them just to achieve an equal result.

Re: PLO on AP buyin questions...Please help

Depends I think. Against some opponents deep stack games become not very good as their is little gambling. In others it widens the game up and it becomes action packed. Think about this question...
