Hand #1
I debated and length and folded. His play didn't make sense for a hand that I beat, plus the BB could have a 9. I river was a blank and checked through. MP = AQ > BB = A5. Yuck.

Hand...

Re: Two Entirely Read Based Hands

Hand 1: just fold. Not worth it against two opponents.

Hand 3: most will tell you to cap, but I prefer the call and lead turn line.

Two Entirely Read Based Hands

8/16 at The Canterbury.

Your typical lineup of LAGs and a couple of LPs. We are in reaching distance from the cage, which has been helpful for at least a couple people at the table. All psyched...

Re: CP 8/16: TPTK w/nut flush draw -- Can I fold this anywhere?

I don't think that you can play this any differently.

Re: Canterbury 15/30 -- Drunk Straddle vs. A4s in the SB

I probably fold this. If you take one off I think that you have to be showdown bound with your A high.

Poker near Evanston, IL

So once again I will be on a business trip with some spare time that could conceivably see me playing cards. I will be in Evanston, IL with about 5-6 hours to kill Sunday night. Is there a room...

Re: SSL, rate this play for me

I don't really like it.

Preflop. I can't imagine that your equity edge here outweighs the potential implied odds that you are killing with your preflop raise.

Flop. You are laying...

Re: Canterbury 8/16 K5s UTG. WTF was I doing in this hand?

I think that you can fold when it is reraised back to you PF. I take a wait and see approach to this flop. Typically, I will check and call one bet. Donking is pretty bad here IMO. On the river,...

If you mean that a good player doesn't call 3.5 cold from the SB with QTs, then say that. I agree.

Re: T4o in the BB

CR the turn doesn't protect your hand. Your action on the turn is screwed up. If the HJ call/3 bet, that is a pretty strong line.

3 bet the flop, as played fold river.

yes, he could have FOLDED

You indicated that his range is more likely to be QTs than KK, JJ, etc., based on PF action. I was pointing out that since he can't RR PF, you...

NO WAY I start calling down from here

the AK and JJ combos will get less likely as sb keeps on raising, but he is kinda tightish so his range should be skewed towards these hands more...

Re: nut flush on a paired board

Ugh, tough spot. Clearly we have UTG beat, as he has some crappy A and got scared when the flush came in. I am having a hard time putting btn on a hand though. I don't think that he plays KK this...

Re: Live 4/8: Overpair Gets Turn CR\'d

Calling down is my standard play here. You can raise if a low card pairs on the river, since his most likely holding is QT.

Re: Thoughts about this hand.

I typically will just fold the turn here. There are no draws, so you are up against at least one made hand and have no kicker. CR the flop if you think that you can, otherwise fine as played.

Re: CP 8/16 - I build a pot with JTo

I thought the river bet was pretty standard here too.

As for the flop donk, I think that it is a great way to a) trap the players in between and b) 3 bet when MP raises. The texture of the game...

CP 8/16 - I build a pot with JTo

I related this hand to a good player and he didn't like my river bet. Interested in other thoughts.

Scene is your typical Friday night crazy LAG game at the Canterbury. Straddles are the norm,...
