Re: Question #48

Another reason to fold is that a call or a raise by you doesn't close the action if you call or raise and MP re-raises it you are in worse shape than you thought and invested a lot of $$ in a pot...

Re: Badly Played?

when liveinpeace advised to check the flop and re-evaluate when it gets back to you I originally thought that was the worse advise possible but now I am not so sure.

I think the flop bet was a...

Re: Question 39

For question 39, I think the best answer is one that is not given as a choice. You should kick yourself for not 3-betting the flop and getting yourself committed after he raised you.

Re: 25NL - QQ vs Suspected 2+2er

If you are worried about his hand range, I think a 3-bet preflop is the way to extract the most information. I can't see him 4-betting you without AA or KK (maybe AKs but doubtful)

.05/.10 NL AA UTG with 5 callers.

Sorry, I don't have pokertracker set up on my new computer yet and am doing this from memory so the details aren't precise. The table usually has a $0.20 to $0.40 raise preflop with 2-3 players...

Re: Starting Hands late in a tournament

Angel Largay has a book called No Limit Hold Em A Complete Course. It does not deal with tournament play but it has tables in the back that gives a hands pre-flop equity against N-handed game where...

Re: 25,000 Hand Stats Review. Advice greatly appreciated.

I dont play 6 max but shouldn't the went to showdown percentage be a little higher and the won money at showdown percentage be a little lower? You may be folding too many winners on later streets. ...

Re: 25NL: Was this the worst play or best bluff ever?

you're representing a big hand. If I were the villian, I'd figure you for AA, AK or TT at this point. I really can't see what he could be calling with except maybe 4d 5d, Ad 4D, Ad 5d.

Against...

playing suited one gappers on a good flop.

This type of hand always gives me trouble. Say you limp with 7 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif 5 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif after 2 or three other plays enter the pot. The small blind limps and...

odd event at table.

two days ago I was playing .05/.10 NL and got AA in the UTG+1 position. I meant to bet $0.40 but missed the decimal point and bet $4. My thought at this popint was crap way to kill all the action. ...

Re: Professional No Limit Holdem Vol 1, Reviews

The nitpicking is still worthless. What do you hope to accomplish? Portugeese is still spelled wrong on the cover. Mason commented on it and apologized and only you seem to go a damn about it...

Re: Question 24

For question 24 I voted fold.

It has to do more with the description of the opponent as a good solid player. The pot odds might justify the call but I don't want to double up the good players...

Re: Categorizing Opponents: Method of Sizing up a Table?

Phil Hellmuth's book Play Poker Like the Pros is highly criticized for the strategic advice he gives for hold em but I found his player types categories to be very helpful. The types are a mouse who...

The Long-Run, Live vs Online, maximize EV vs. variance reduction

Re: CBS columnist bashes gambling, WSOP

It's partly a level and partly true. Let's face it, without a rake, poker is a zero sum game. With a rake, the only guaranteed winner is the house. How do you win at poker, you make fewer mistakes...

Re: Big Bluffs at the Micro-Stakes?

The key to micro limits is value bets. If you are going to bluff in the micros the best place to do it is on the river when a flush or straight draw misses. If you never bluff at all you can still...
