What does the quick raise mean?

2 table live tournament amongst co-workers ($500 buy-in). Each player starts with 4k chips, 20 min blinds. If player busts in the first hour they can get another 4K chips (for free), otherwise they...

Re: What did Yang have when Childs folded QQ?

"its just not that easy to pick up AA/KK"

actually at a nine handed table, one of your opponents will have AA or KK around 8% of the time. Not exactly like getting struck by lightning.

Re: Laying down AK in a tournament from a Poker Pro Magazine Article

Just one man's opinion. Oh, i love the internet. Nothing like getting flamed by a disgruntled young man who wishes he could lash out like this to REAL people. But that would be scary. Good luck with...

Re: Laying down AK in a tournament from a Poker Pro Magazine Article

Of course the 57% is equity vs a range. Thats its equity vs 77+,AT+,KQ or the top 10% of hands. But against the top 5% of hands 99+,AQ+, i'm just under 50%. Which range should i assign to him? I...

Re: Laying down AK in a tournament from a Poker Pro Magazine Article

One last point. If i knew for sure my equity was 57% thats one thing. But I don't. I could easily be much worse than that. Anyways, i like to play all events like they are the main event. Thats how i...

Re: Laying down AK in a tournament from a Poker Pro Magazine Article

I didn't say KQ and AT were in his range. I was trying to illustrate the fact that even with a relatively wide range as that you aren't exactly dominating with your 57% equity. Again unless you have...

Re: do i cal this reraise all in w kq?

Fold pre-flop. You're not so desperate that you have to play such a weak hand against a raise. After the shove you still fold and the pot-odds are not that great. The pots laying you around 1.6 to 1....

Re: Laying down AK in a tournament from a Poker Pro Magazine Article

Look if its a useless little small buy-in donkament than fine. Go ahead and gamble. But I find that this mentality of risking a huge % of your chips on what appears to be a small edge creeps into...

Re: Laying down AK in a tournament from a Poker Pro Magazine Article

Without a good read its a fold. Period. An extra 3% equity from the hand being suited shouldn't change your play.

Re: The deal with the 30% withholding rate for int\'l players...

I cashed for 35k at the Bellagio cup (5K buy-in)and they only taxed me 9K. So they taxed the net gain.

Re: $1500NL - WSOP Event 49 - Hows My Reasoning?

He also had 7K chips to start, so a loose player might be happy to gamble with 2 pair since you cant bust him. If he's got AQ you will still fill up a third of the time. When you have to get through...

Re: Your thoughts on this hand....call or no call?

This is much closer than you guys are making it out to be. Against the top 25% of hands, K9o has 39% equity or 1.6 to 1 (which is what the pot is laying you). His range could definately be wider, but...

Re: Stars massive field, ITM, evaluate my exit please.

I had trouble getting past the first hand. Did you have somewhere to go? You try a steal with easily dominatable garbage (which is fine depending on how you view your opponent) then proceed to piss...

Re: caught betwixt and between.... with ace - queen...........

You are doing the math wrong. You don't have to assign that tight a range of hands to get away from it. Against the top 5% of hands(99+, AQ+) your AQs has around 39% equity, or you need 1.6 to 1 in...

Re: JJ in SB multiple limpers

MP1 folded and MP2 called with pocket 8s and i did not improve. I seem to be getting stacked alot lately with JJ when the flop comes with no overcards.

Re: What would jesus do?

Simple. Jesus would shove and make the flop come K-K-K and then have the turn and river both be jacks just for fun.

JJ in SB multiple limpers

Blinds 100/200 Hero has 6,600 after posting SB. Average stack around 11,500 early on.

UTG and UTG+1 fold, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, highjack calls and Cutoff calls.

Hero raises to 1,000 with JJ....

Re: Buying in with credit card

Wanted to use the AMEX for convenience MrFizzbin. In terms of amounts that sounds like a standard monthly AMEX bill for me, which i pay off promptly every month. Thanks for your concern though.

Going to play in the Bellagio Cup and hopefully a couple of $1,500 WSOP events. Can i buy-in using my Amex when I get there? I've always just paid cash when i play in tourneys. Possibly a dumb...

Re: JJ against a button raise

Rider my feeling was that he had enough chips to call a raise to 5K or 6K with AK, AQ, AJ. Then what do I do on the turn? A check looks so weak there.

JJ against a button raise

Live event, 30 runners, $450 Buy-in, 1st gets a WSOP seat so not much left for 2nd or 3rd etc. 23 players remain and hero is in the big blind with a slightly bigger than average stack of about 17K...
