Re: Trying HORSE - any tips

We ran HORSE at my place as a turbo tourney (15 min blinds) last month, and it was very slow moving first time through with the split pot games. I think on the first Omaha H/L level we played 4...

Re: The Worst Strategy You\'ve Overheard at a Table

$2/$4 game at the Taj this weekend. I was on the button with 53 suited and there were 7 limpers, so I called to make it a family pot. I bet the whole way when the board came J53-Q-8.

Noone...

Re: List all things that make a home poker game good , or better

Here's some things I can think of:

- A good supply of players. I have a mailing list of about 25 players for my monthly tourney - almost all 30-40 something family guys - and usually end up with...

Re: Poker clocks/timers

I use an old version of "DD Tournament Poker" which has a "Poker Night" module. I think I got it at Walmart in the cut-rate bin for like $5.

The screen shot of the one you developed looks good.

Re: What kind of tourney structure do you guys use?

We play once a month, and rotate through three different kinds of tourney once per quarter.

For the 1st month of a quarter, we play a NLHE rebuy event, the second month we play two turbo...

Re: IN AC, WHO USES SHUFFLING MACHINES BESIDES THE BORGATA?

I played at table #2 (all the way in the back) and table #43 (right near the front desk) - both $2/$4 limit tables - on March 24 and neither of them had auto-shufflers.

Good Luck -

Re: PokerStars Holdem SnGs down

Here's what I got when I requested a tournament history. Looks pretty fair to me, and I appreciate Stars' efforts.

Dear Spike2,

Tournament #44385699 has been cancelled due to technical...

Re: PokerStars Holdem SnGs down

Any of you techies have any clue as to why FT and Stars would both be down other than the most obvious possibility that some type of IP banning is going on?

Could this be a hacker attack?

Re: Play advice?

I agree - tight aggressive is how you wanna play - but not overly so since you are short-handed. Raise and re-raise pre-flop with pairs and big cards. When you hit 'em, keep the hammer down. If...

Re: Turbo Tournament Structure?

I agree that 7 mins is too short for a live game.

We use 25 mins for freeze-out and rebuy tourneys and 15 mins for turbos. Turbos and rebuys start with 1200 chips, freezeouts start with 2000. ...

We have monthly tournaments, and then a year end championship event. After the championship event, we award a trophy to the player with the highest point total. I've never seen grown men get so...

Re: Interesting tourney concept

I tried this once. Each player was given an off-color chip (not used in the regular buy-in). When players were knocked out, they then gave their chip to the player that knocked them out, but could...

Re: 88 in LP hits set and lots of flop action

*Grunch*

I would have played it the same way you did.

Both players are very loose, so could have a wide variety of hands - only a couple of which beat you.

UTG+1 could have AT - JT and...

Re: Big blind check to flop: top pair, poor kicker

Grunch

With no read, I am check/calling the river getting 10.5-1 if UTG+1 bets. If UTG+1 bets and SB check-raises, then I am gone. The flush and trips possibilities make betting a little too...

Re: quick preflop questions (2)

#1 - I would raise with the suited ones, but limp with the KQ.

#2 - I'm probably limping unless I am pretty sure that the players behind me will not cold-call my raise without a big hand. If...

Re: 2-pair and a set..

[ QUOTE ]

noone is ever folding a 8nut out draw getting 12.5/2

Isn't it better to raise to give him 12.5/2 than to give him 11.5/1 even with his 8-out draw?

Re: 2-pair and a set..

Hand 1:

Pre-flop is a questionable call. My rule of thumb for small pairs from MP is if any of the players to act after me show high PFR percentage, then I am folding. If not, then I call.
