Re: Question on sportsmanship

I've always considered it good sportmanship to allow a competitor to get even after a loss, and I always offer. At billiards tourneys (like poker), the best action is in the side games. After a win,...

Re: grandpas playing POKER

My Dad loved to play poker. The year before he died (76 years old), he was in Vegas playing 12-14 hour sessions of stud. He was a good player, but like everyone, he ran cold from time to time. If you...

Re: Last hand I ever played in Vegas

Well, Chevy, you have to take your lumps for advertising your questionable play. Take solace in knowing that every person that has posted a reply has made a play that was MUCH worse than yours, they...

Re: Poker Dealers???

I agree. I was trying (unsucessfully) to address the OP's question. I thought it was also interesting to note that the article indicated that the dealers would be taking a $30k pay cut as a result of...

Re: Poker Dealers???

I read recently that the dealers at Wynn just took a pay cut as a result of a new policy requiring tip sharing. Their estimated new income is about $90k.

Edit: After re-reading the article, it...

Re: My life is over.

I'm sure I'll get flamed, but here goes:

I have empathy for your situation, but almost zero sympathy. Certain truths are self-evident, to wit:

1) You have every right to be happy and live your...

Re: Poor Play w/A-A?---What Would You Do?

Sorry, I forgot to mention a couple of things:

- I'm play with this guy frequently, and he is a decent LAG type. His min-raise has the familiar feel of trying to snap off a bluff, and I figure if...

Poor Play w/A-A?---What Would You Do?

This is a B&M 2-5 NL Game.....

The night already sucked, and I was stuck about $800 at the time. I had Q-Q three times before this hand: won the blinds once ($7), lost to a river gutshot ($275),...

Thank you for your replies. I will search around and try to get some comparisons between the play in SoCal and Tunica (NL). I look forward to our move and playing in Ca., as I understand the games...

Card Rooms near Carlsbad?

We are moving to SoCal late spring. My wife would like to live in the Carlsbad area. I would like to live near some good card rooms. Wife will win, of course (yeah, yeah---beat......at least she...

Re: extracting tells from a player

A tell I missed----

Last weekend's game, and I'm in 9. A guy I know and a 40ish woman in 3 and 4. He was particularly animated that night, but then would become inexplicably silent from time to...

Re: Poll... Which Demographic fits you ?

[ QUOTE ]
The poll does not allow for the spectrum of tastes and opinions most people have. For example, I like staying and playing at the Borg and the Wynn, but I won't play a 6/5 BJ game, no...

[ QUOTE ]

You are pretty much correct. I just have two things to add....and while these do not make invalid what you say, they do tend to mitigate it somewhat.

Re: Something I don\'t understand about pot odds

Your first statement is correct: The pot is laying hte odds. The pot is nobody's money until it is won. A better line of thinking might be this:

Your opponent is getting 5:2 odds on his bet if he...

Re: Why do we care so much about our own cards?

Hmm... I realize this is a very small sample size, but this is what I did (a la HOH, though this was not tourney play):

The last two times I went to the casino, I played 7 hour sessions (2/5 NL)....

Re: does tipping affect tour win rate dramatically
