NL50: good river bluff?

I only had around 35 hands on Villain, but seemed TAGish with maybe only moderate AG; nothing too out of the ordinary. I expected a fold on the turn. I think this river bluff is +EV given how I got...

Re: I play so so weakly

Are stats over a reliable sample size? If so, I think we can put Villain on a pretty tight range (and we probably should do that vs. unknown too). I'm not too concerned about the flush--more...

Re: AA faces flop c/r from a TAG

Clearly shove or fold, and you only have to have around 35% equity for a shove to be better. Surely you're good that often vs. an aggro Villain. (Even if you think AK usually gets pushed preflop, I...

Re: Pot control or protection? Discuss this texture

[ QUOTE ]
So bet, fold out the gutshots and bet/fold turn.

If AK raises us here it makes it alot tougher to play.

[/ QUOTE ]

Notice pot and stack sizes--no room to bet/fold turn. I'm not...

Re: Pot control or protection? Discuss this texture

Here's a question (assuming read is over a reliable sample size): If this kind of Villain has AK, is he more likely to get all in if we bet flop/check turn/bet river, if we check flop/bet turn/bet...

Re: Pot control or protection? Discuss this texture

The more I think about this, the more I like check flop, commit on a safe turn. Reasons:

1) If you check flop and a scare card comes, the chances that you were beat already on flop + chance you...

Re: Can i get some insight 10nl

[ QUOTE ]
It's a simple example of implied odds. You're going to flop a set 12.5% of the time (1 in 8). Therefor, the villain needs to have AT LEAST 8 times the size of the bet to see the flop...

Re: Pot control or protection? Discuss this texture

Disclaimer: You're a much better player than I am.

That said, are you sure you want to avoid a big pot here? First off, your read seems weak, so basing your play too much on it doesn't sound...

Re: 25 NL - Am I being way too nitty here

[ QUOTE ]
We are even money (51:49 dog) against a range that includes another 6 (62o+, 62s+) if we add in a horribly played QQ we drop down to 53:47 dog.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think all of...

Re: 25 NL - Am I being way too nitty here

I'm not too worried about Button, but SB is saying he has a 6. No reason to think his 6 is better, given that he just completed the SB, though. On the other hand, if your kicker is better it might...

Re: 50nl - AQ UTG

I realize this is non-standard, but what about check/call flop, donk a non- /images/graemlins/diamond.gif turn? Plan is to fold to a turn raise. If Villain bets flop, calls turn, we check/call most...

Re: 10 NL - A9s flops overs and nfd.

Given SB's stats, I'm guessing sets and overpairs are a big part of his range (maybe worse flush draws too). I'd expect limited fold equity against those hands, though obviously you did get him to...

Re: TPTK in 3bet pot

[ QUOTE ]
Raise to 9, fold to shove here for me.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't like that line much at all--you put in half your stack before folding.

IMO, it's either fold flop or be willing to get...

Re: AA and facing re-raise from a new player

Villain probably has either a worse overpair, a set, or diamonds (maybe 43). Two pair would be surprising. There are more ways for him to have a worse overpair or a draw than a set, even though some...

Re: tptk vs. heat from unknown

I think there's a case for folding to the flop raise, especially if you bet a little more. Villain has 1) two pair+, 2) a straight draw, or 3) a worse pair. Many better players don't have lots of...

Re: what could i have done better here with tp + nfd?

I like your line, including bet sizes. It's hard to make lots of money on a 3-flush board unless Villain has something pretty good.

Re: Is there any value in betting this river?

I'd bet $7 on the river (and fold to a push) unless I think I have a really tight image. I'm not sure you can really be 80% certain he's drawing to a high spade, though it is surely a big part of his...

NL50: in which I play a weak tight passive chicken (TP2K)

Villain is new to the table but seemed loose and aggressive postflop (over a tiny sample). We hadn't had any confrontations until now.

This is me trying out a non-standard line for pot control...

Re: good value bet on the river?

I definitely think you need to value bet, but I'd be gearing the betting toward getting all in somehow. Villain's range is mostly geared toward PP's and worse A's, I think, with only a small chance...

Re: NL 25 Laggy call on the river?

I don't hate preflop given Villain's stats. 3-betting light (occasionally) doesn't seem nuts here either, though it pretty much turns your hand into a bluff.

Is Villain aggressive? If so the flop...

Re: NL10 - 2nd nut flush on a paired flop vs 2p2er

I think pushing is a close call, unless you have an aggro postflop image too (thinking player can probably fold a lot of what you beat). But I defintely don't fold. Smaller flush or Q seem possible;...

Re: Flopped two pair on scary board

I like the size of the flop bet. Usually I'd bet/fold the turn (maybe $4.50ish)--don't want a J or a naked diamond to draw cheap, and you're probably ahead. River I call. Villain could be value...

Re: am i just a donk with aces? why do i always seem to get stacked...

Given your stack size, I think you've got to stack off here. I mean, once BB 3bets the turn you're likely toast, but you're pot committed at that point.

Checking the flop is overly fancy IMO,...

Re: NL 50 AK line check

The board is dry and Villain is aggressive. Why not go for a c/r all in on the turn? If he checks behind, I'd shove river. I think this might get more value from weaker hands.

Re: Top 2 - WTF?

Your line looks strong to me (call flop, lead turn). My guess is Villain has a straight and is trying to get value from a good second best hand. I say fold.
