Definitely check to induce a bluff imo. Your strange flop check dictates it because from villains perspective a river check from you indicates a very weak hand that will often fold while a bet...

Naturally we bet all flops if we are HU with the LP, and most turns. But if one or both of the blinds come along, there are definitely flops where it is better to take a free card with this hand.

Why not partner up with button to get BB out on the flop already, i.e. donk the flop? The way you played it you are going to be in a tough spot on the turn in a bloated pot.
