Its a digital gold currency. Dgc's are e-currencies that instead of being expressed in a fiat currency instead are backed/correlated directly to gold...

I would suggest buying Amex or Thomas Cook travllers cheques and mail/courier them back to the states or keep them on you. Safer then cash if you are carrying large amounts.
