Re: In Super System, Doyle says...

Playing rushes is very correct in deepstack NL, and it is not about variance or the likelihood that the next deal will give you good cards. It has to do with your opponents.

In deepstack NL, the...

Re: How would you adjust?

[ QUOTE ]

Why would you tighten up? When people play badly, they are converting marginal hands into winners, not losers.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is not always true. if the mistake being made is...

Re: How would you adjust?

[ QUOTE ]
Here are the typical conditions/players at the place I play (live).

It's 1/2 NL (full table). Plays like a 2/4 or 2/5 though. Standard raise is $15-20, and there are around 3 players...

Re: Brian & Barry\'s prop bet

It's hard to quantify what constitutes "edge" in a bet where the amount of money at risk is unclear/TBD. But I'd say that Barry has the best of this in the sense that his gross return will be 50-70%...

Re: A Functionally Unlimited Bankroll

I'd say there's a huge advantage to starting at the bottom - you can tell how you're doing. Read a book, acquire some modest NL skills, and you can beat microstakes online. Once you accomplish...

Re: Barry: most poker books are written by losers

Let's not pretend like 2+2 books are particularly hot either. There's a lot of marginal to bad material in them. Barry's right to be critical of poker books in general.

Re: I hate this situation can anyone suggest a better play

This is in the wrong forum, but that's a pretty weak line. The K didn't make any straights or flushes, so the only plausible hand that improved past you is the KQ. You shouldn't fold this against...

Who'd want to go from no-limit to limit? /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Anyone who wants action, potentially.

Try playing 6-max NL for an hour, and the 6-max limit, and...

Re: Semi-bluff defence strategy

I don't like this line at all. You have to at least consider shutting down on an A,J,T,6 or heart turn. Depending on what villain actually has, that's 20ish scare cards. In addition, it's way to...

Re: BEAT: totally undecided on what my next car will be

I think the EVO was the obvious choice. Best performance of the 3, no question.

BTW, why no Skyline sedan in the lineup?

lol. there is nothing worse than a BMW that looks like an import racer. and a series 3 bmw is a girl's car or the first car of a dude with rich parents. Nothing classy about it.

Re: Event #39 - 50K HORSE

Looks like Barry's on a mission now. i have to think the current short-handed game is very much to his liking.

After Chip, he's the obvious person to win this thing.

Re: Event #39 - 50K HORSE

That remains to be seen, I think. Obviously, Tran/Phan/Filippi (the current top 3) would be disappointing, but if we get Greenstein/Matusow/ Raymer/Negreanu (all in the Top 15), that...
