What possible Seven-card hand could make 55532? I don't think that's possible, assuming trips count as trips and not a pair of Fives with a Five kicker.

I just realized what is going on. Absolute has invented a new game, 7-card Razz Badugi. Villain had a 4-card Seven, Hero had a 4-card Nine. Villain wins, obviously.

Looks like they used a lowball hand sorter to choose the five card showdown hand, then used a normal hi-hand sorting algorithm, with an instruction to return the "losing" hand as the "winner."

It seems their "pairs don't count" rule only applies to showdowns between two paired hands. Which is a special little rule all by itself. Pairs count, but only when deciding whether or not to use the...
