another option for you would be to purchase an external SATA that has a PCI card add on, this will give you the quick read/write you are looking for with regards to datamining....if its a laptop then...

take a look at the new sharepoint, there is a wiki template setup and will easily integrate all MS Office apps.
I have been using mediawiki in a qa environment, truth be told, the free sharepoint...
