Re: Hand motion for surrender

I am not looking for a flame war here or anything so I won't go farther than this. I mean no disrespect and I am merely stating my cheap 2 cent opinion.

I do believe that basic strategy is a...

Re: Hand motion for surrender

Where I dealt, the rules were that if a player is going to surrender (outside of tournament play) he must do so before the first card is taken from the shoe after the first two cards are out. I...

Re: noob question

Where I used to deal the downs were 45 minutes. Casinos I have been to have had downs as short as 30 minutes and ones as long as 1 hour.

On a side note, apparently one of the universities in...

Re: Hand motion for surrender

There isn't one. I have tried on several occasions to tell my players this. A lot of times players have there own secret motion for surrender which no dealer knows about. I usually end up being...

Re: Roulette Croupier Manipulation?

Here is a bit of a long story but it may get the point across.

A while back I had an emergency shift as a stacker at a roulette table. The dealer I was working with had extensive experience and...

Re: Two rules questions...

Here is my educated guess on these rulings. I have some dealing experience so I have a good idea of how the floor rules on similar matters.

1) If a player mucks a hand he is out of the hand...

Re: Capped betting or not how do you know?

In the room where I dealt, all cash games had a limit of 3 raises per betting round (a raise, re-raise, and cap) after the initial bet, including both Limit and No-Limit games. If two players start...

Re: After One Year, I\'ve Lost Some of My Enthusiasm for Poker

There is too much poker on tv and there are so many different shows of low quality that it isn't the same as it was when you would only catch the WSOP or WPT. We don't even show poker on the tv's...

Re: Just worked as a poker dealer (trip report)

Dealing those loose, free money games is the easiest way to learn to deal tournaments. You usually have lots of action, lots of side pots and when it is free you have players who will turn over...

Re: Chip denominations to encourage loose action...

If you only play limit (especially these low limits listed) then play with $1 chips. It makes life easier for everyone, and yes by only playing with $1 chips the pot looks big early and can help...

Re: Just want a dealer perspective, everyone is welcome though

If someone asks if they forgot to tip I will answer them truthfully. You can't ask for a tip as a dealer (you can get fired for soliciting tips at my joint) but players want to stay on the dealers...

Re: Poker Dealer Feedback: What\'s it like being a dealer?

Minimum wage (maybe a bit more) + tips. Tips vary (by the casino and by the day) and casino policy decides whether they are pooled and then divided by the number of hours worked or kept by the...

Re: Poker Dealer Feedback: What\'s it like being a dealer?

If you have a gaming license, have taken a training course and are flexible in what games and when you can deal it will make it easier to get on. IMO if you are a rookie who only wants to deal poker...

Re: Question about showing hands

This depends on the house rules and on previous action. Some casinos require the winning hand to be shown others don't. If you don't need to show then 99% of the time the pot is pushed and the...

Re: Hi & Lo Declaration resolution

Pretty simple,

Player reveals hand. If he has a qualifying low he is able to win both pots. Other players will then reveal their hands if they can beat either the high or low as per normal...

Re: Bigger games in Edmonton

Several of the Edmonton rooms have scheduled games (e.g. the DC game at Century on sunday with the only Hi/Low in town). The scheduled game gets listed after the previous game gets completed and you...

Biggest dealer shortcuts

I have a question for the dealers (and I guess the players as well).

Re: Straddle or Kill

Dealer should have called the floor, kill will stand and the straddle will be pulled back. If the second card is already being dealt then floor may call a misdeal due to significant action.

Re: Help the Enemy.....please?

"Lucky Lucky" is another sidebet I hadn't seen until I started dealing. I HATE dealing this but on our busiest days there are waiting lists for these tables.

Players first two cards and dealers...

Re: Why moving for poker is worth it

I agree with OP that this could be interesting. Great thread. I think the most difficult part of this idea are the immigration/visa issues that will arise if you stay in one place long enough.
