Re: Ask the losers why they are so loserish and lost thread

Sweet. Go to Centre Street Cafe for brunch before the tour (it's right down the street, about a 5-10 min walk from whatever orange line stop you get off on) and you will be happiest person alive. ...

Re: Ask the losers why they are so loserish and lost thread

Do you ever go to the Whole Foods across the river (by Mass General) ? If so, I think I saw you there last week.

Also, definitely go to the Sam Adams brewery in J.P. if you haven't been yet. ...

Re: Marathon Training

I just ran my first marathon so I can give some (hopefully) useful advice.

I can't stress enough about having good enough shoes. The only time I had any sort of injury was due to a pair of shoes...

Re: Nova/BM training/weight loss

[ QUOTE ]
I was pretty disgusted by that episode. Nova is supposed to be serious science show and there was about 2 minutes of science content in that whole program. Hell even the training that the...

Re: The Beer connoisseur thread

Beer geek here; I'm actually going to a Trappist beer dinner next Tuesday night and would gladly write up a TR if anyone's interested. (The Monk's Cell of the Publik House for anyone familiar with...

Re: $200 reward

My site looks good due to it's variety and freshness. They won't ship vegetables and fruits that are out of season, which is a GOOD sign.

As far as weekly diet goes, I don't know what you like,...

Re: $200 reward

I assume that you know what foods are good and bad for you, so won't cover that.

These guys look great. I haven't ordered from them, but I am honestly thinking about it just from their...

Re: bigbabyjesus\'s marathon training log

I did pretty much the same thing you're doing, starting from basically the same level running-wise. I was in pretty decent shape from biking, but due to a nasty crash I had to stay off the bike for...

Re: Hiking Trip Report: Enchantment Lakes (Alpine Lakes Wilderness)

Beautiful pictures, thanks for the report.

This might be more relevant to an "Ask-a-thru-hiker" thread, but would you mind briefly going over what is included in your 10lb pack with approximate...

Re: what to eat before a long run?

Really for 5 miles it doesn't matter all that much in my opinion. Assuming you don't run often (and it seems like you don't or this bet would be easy money for you), make sure not to eat too much at...

Re: Chicago Marathon

I'm kind of in the same boat. I can average a 7:30 over 6 miles without too much trouble, but since I've never done any distance, I have no idea how my body would hold up with any pace close to that...

Re: Chicago Marathon

I'm actually training for Chicago as well. It will be my first, so every week and every long run has been an interesting test to see what happens to my body. Although I was in shape from road...

Re: BBV: Anyone know Virginia traffic laws??

the way the officer explained it, anything 15mph over is considered reckless, and i was doing 21mph over, and it definitely says 'reckless driving by speed' on the ticket, which is a...

Re: Sam Adams

I met Jim Koch at a beerfest in Boston a few months ago. Great guy, was super eager to talk about his beers, etc...

Of course the whole time there he was pounding beers, getting fairly hammered...

Re: Bostonians.....what to do in Boston?

When you start in Woburn/Anderson (I think this is the only stop in Woburn), you want to be looking at the 'inbound'. When you're in Boston getting back to Woburn, you'll want the 'outbound'.

Re: Bostonians.....what to do in Boston?

Just a FYI, the commuter rail that you'll (most likely) take into the city stops running pretty early. It's even earlier on weekends, so be careful not to get stuck.
