Re: $50 NLTRN, Ace high on 3flush turn, facing OVB shove

Okay, consensus is a clear fold. I agree.

I called--tilting?--and villain had black J8 for 14 outs (30% equity, LOTS of FE obv).

I called because I was overly optimistic that he was capable of...

$50 NLTRN, Ace high on 3flush turn, facing OVB shove

<font color="blue">Reads: I've played villain once before, months ago, and I don't remember him. I won, apparently. His stats are 59/8/2.4 (58 hands). Obviously he seems loose pf and pretty aggro...

Re: Splashing around in a 3bet pot

He has a flush draw and lots of BD draws that would be very, very well disguised, and doesn't want to get blown off the flop. I think flop check is good.

Turn raise, I don't know. Would you...

Re: $50 NLTRN, 2nd pair + OESD on turn facing psb donkbet

sonneti,

Yeah, I think you're right. My only read was his instapot river bet in hand 1, and his very quick pot bet on the turn in hand 2. For some reason I didn't think he had it, and I pushed. I...

Re: NL100: Overpair 7\'s facing ugly turn card

I don't think villain is folding any part of his range to a shove. He has nearly 70% of his stack in the pot. He's probably betting small to entice a call given great odds, before an even worse scare...

Re: NL100: Overpair 7\'s facing ugly turn card

I think the flop reraise to $40 is a bad idea. He won't fold any slow-played overpairs, and he could have a set or 2p or draw. When he calls your reraise I don't know what he has, but his range...

Re: $50 NLTRN, 2nd pair + OESD on turn facing psb donkbet

Yeah, I'm not sure what he meant by that, but I'm guessing he means it's ok to bet 80/120 consistently instead of betting more on drawy boards.

Anyway, results. I pushed, villain thought for a...

Re: NL100 QQ in BB ugly action

What is your image? How often have you 3bet? How often has he 4bet? Hard to answer this without some reads.

Re: $50 NLTRN, 2nd pair + OESD on turn facing psb donkbet

I should clarify:

I tend to cbet bigger on drawy flops if:

1. I have air or a hand with no SD value but I think villain is likely to c/f (or, if he calls, I can take it away from villain when...

Re: $50 NLTRN, 2nd pair + OESD on turn facing psb donkbet

Somekid, why do you say bet 80 on this flop? I usually bet more on drawy boards to charge draws (if my hand has SD value and/or hit the flop). I know there is something to be said for cbetting the...

Re: $50 NLTRN, 2nd pair + OESD on turn facing psb donkbet

Thanks, tmcdmck and Somekid. I was hoping for a couple more responses but I guess I posted at a bad time, or the hand isn't that interesting. Anyway, I agree with both of you that I should probably...

$50 NLTRN, 2nd pair + OESD on turn facing psb donkbet

This might seem like a simple hand, but I have a specific reason for posting (which I will tell you after people post, b/c I don't want to influence opinions). Doesn't mean it's not a simple hand,...

Re: 200NLHUCASH king high flush paired board river

I agree that this is a call. I would be interested to hear the cash game people weigh in on the minimum hand that you would both check turn and value push on river with (is there such a hand?).

Both have merits: obviously if he is bluffing he'll fold to a raise, whereas if he has a good hand there may be a lot of turn scare cards.

Re: 10HUSNG--strange hand

asg,

Post some reads and history, and this MIGHT be interesting. Otherwise, nh, well played, good fold.

Why were you itching to call? That's an honest question.

Re: NLTRN: Situations where you do not continuation bet

Obv depends on the opponent, but in general, consider checking behind if:

1. you have a gutshot draw, esp if villain c/r or calls too often, and esp if your hand has less SD value than, say, K...

Re: Losing the passion

Try dropping down to a level where stakes are pretty inconsequential. Open up 6+ tables of sixmax and see how well you can play. I saw this advice in SSNL but I think it would be good practice for HU...

Re: Raise Size

Nicho,

Shoving/raising will "extract the maximum" against top pair hands (and hands that beat you, but I assume you are not folding this no matter what). I don't think there is much difference...

Oh come on, some weirdos 3bet a wide range and turbo c/f flop unless they hit.

And by "some" I mean, 3bet oop followed by flop check does not make me "scared, very scared"...
