Re: Regulating online poker and sites by \"taxing\" the rake?

An extra 2.5% (the sites already rake 5%) would be devastating to anyone's winrate, especially if there was no cap. I would much prefer that uncle sam take 25% of all my cashouts instead of 2.5% of...

Re: How will part-time players survive a regulated poker site?

Well that is good news that losses can be deducted for part-time players. I should have a little more faith in our tax system I think /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: How will part-time players survive a regulated poker site?

I guess we shall see how this plays out, it seems unamerican to pay more in taxes than you actually netted in a year! I think even religious conservatives and friends of the family would be against...

Re: How will part-time players survive a regulated poker site?

How will part-time players survive a regulated poker site?

Unless "professional gambler" is your stated profession, you cannot deduct your losing sessions from your winning sessions, according to tax law. A regulated site in the USA would be required to...

Seriously, how do you think that you are going to function in a competitive world with your lame research skills, much less being able to formulate strategy or coherent analysis?

Re: rakeback

UB sucks (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=12284778&an=0&page=1#Post12284778), especially for US players because UB takes a "fee" from US players every month out of their...

Time to leave Ultimate Bet?

It's time to get the hell outta dodge.

First, they began charging US players a portion of their rakeback, which sucks.

Second, their bad beat jackpot tables take away 50 cents from every raked...

Re: NL50 6max: AJ TP vs. reraise ip

Even if a jack comes, you are screwed. In fact, you better fold BEFORE the jack comes on the turn!

Re: 50nl : Vs a lag oop

It looks like the villain is betting for value since the ace came, he is probably hoping you have an ace.

Taxes for part-time poker players: Only declaring net winnings.

Here's my situation: I'm a student and all I did for income was play poker in 2006. I owe no federal taxes because my standard deduction and "lifetime learning tuition tax credit" cut the taxes to...

1BB/100 over 200K+hands not enough, something wrong with my stats?

I'm not gonna post any stupid graphs, but I will say that over my last 37,000 hands my $100NL 6max BB/100 is 0.14! My usual winrate, crappy as it is, is 1.00BB/100 (over a few hundred thousand...

Sorry for that bad hand history, UB doesn't work.

My hand is JJ, the villain is LAG.

Pre-flop:

$3.50. Villain calls. x folds.

Re: Whats the Fishiest site left for the U.S players?

I play on UB (.50/1 6max NL) and I find it very tight aggro. Usually at least half the table knows what they are doing, and on the odd chance there are no sharks present everyone has a short stack...
