cos(wt) is the real part of exp(iwt), so your series is the real part of an absolutely convergent complex geometric series.

I would do this by comparison. Find a function that is larger than 1[sin(sqrt(x))] for x close to 0 yet whose integral still converges. As a hint for how to find such a function, think about the...

To see that the mean is 5 seconds, let T_1 be the travel time if we leave now, and T_2 the travel time...
