Re: How to play against LAGs?

I think the key is to be willing to go to showdown with most of the hands you're involved in with him. Don't worry too much about raising if you have a marginal hand. Just be willing to call down...

Re: 16: 2pair vs monster board

Jeez, this is a tough one.

My first thought right here is actually to keep the pot small.

I think that I might bet t100, knowing a flush draw will call, then trying to bet the draw out on the...

Re: $6 two pair flop, downhill from there

I would check and call any bet t200 or smaller. This early in the tourney you'll see Axo where the A is a heart and the X is jack s**t sometimes, maybe enough to make it worthwhile. I don't see...

Re: PP 33 speed: AKs postflop donk play

[ QUOTE ]

I really don't like making big bets with the nut flush draw. His 1/2 pot was perfect. You want to encourage other flush draws to call, or to CR allin.

I agree...

Re: $16: Wait until SB to die on bubble?

Ugh. Problem is SB is pushing in here when he just called in the SB; if he just called there rather than push he was looking to make some kind of a hand before committing his chips. It doesn't seem...

Re: JJ facing raise and re-min raise

[ QUOTE ]

This is from a 5.50, and so far the play had been pretty bad. What would you guys do in this spot?

[/ QUOTE ]

If "pretty bad" means UTG has been raising w/ hands like J4s, K2o and...

Re: 16: JJ bet out or check/fold set value only?

From the stacks and blind levels it looks like he eliminated someone else early. Is he especially aggressive? Has MP1 called a few raises already? If both were true I might consider reraising...

Re: PP 33 speed: AKs postflop donk play

[ QUOTE ]

My reasoning for not betting the flop is that I'm building a large pot with only a draw,

You also want to consider that often on this flop, you still have the best...

Re: PP 33 speed: AKs postflop donk play

I don't know about the check-raise all-in play. For one thing, there's only one player left to act behind you, and no guarantee he'll bet. Also, you wouldn't be getting the odds to call a push...

Re: stars 3$ turbo, KQs played wrong?

I think folding this would be pretty tight. What kind of hands would limp UTG? Assuming he's an average player (or above average for these levels) it's probably a low-mid pocket pair or Axs,...

Re: Toppair against a raise 1/2

[ QUOTE ]

would you bet if you were last to act? if you would, would you be doing it for different reasons than if you're first?

Hard to say because the hand would have played...

As played, I might bet the river.

Re: River c/c or thin value bet??

Not being able to fold to a raise, I would just check-call the river.

I do think bet/fold is the correct move against normal opponents, but I hate assuming my opponent is normal if I don't know...

Re: How ofter to isolate raise preflop

I think cold-calling hands like 99-TT after one pf raiser is a large mistake; you don't want to give overcards behind you (especially in the blinds) an invite to call along and increase the table's...

Re: Toppair against a raise 1/2

I'm usually 3betting here, and leading the turn. If raised I call down, but I don't expect villian to raise the flush draw on the flop given his position. With this line I would fold to a turn...

Re: Toppair against pf raiser

To stay on the river topic, the check-call is a good play when you put your opponent on some sort of draw that would fold the river if you bet it, but may bet if checked to, hoping you would fold,...

Re: movies you\'ve actually walked out of

I'd walk out of most of these movies, but I love "The Fifth Element" and "Haunted Honeymoon." Both are ludicrous in different ways. Fun.

The only movie I paid for and walked out of was "The...

Re: Top 5 Film OSTs (Original Sound Tracks)

I'm thinking original means the songs were written (or most of them) for the movie, so Ry Cooder kind of owns this.

Crossroads
The Long Riders
Paris, Texas
Streets of Fire (score by Ry Cooder,...

Re: 3/6 - JJ OUP

Thanks for that analysis. So I guess the checkraise is good if I'm pretty sure I can get it, but I won't always be as lucky on the flop action as I was. Cool.

If I'm leading the...

Re: More Fun w/ 88

I think donking the turn just gets better hands to call down, once the second 5 hits, especially with a passive player.

I agree with betting the flop; it doesn't look like he's the type to raise...

Without cigarettes no one could look cool like Bogey.

A lot of the people bitching about second-hand smoke live in the city and choke down tons of carcinogens walking down a street with a...

Re: Back to limit, sanity check plz

Hand 1 looks fine. I like the flop raise even though it doesn't protect you against much simply because the pot is getting very large and the raise gives you a better chance to win it. It is...

Re: J9o - marginal hand with aggro villain

Seems like there's enough of a chance that he's pumping a str8 draw, or that he just likes to say "Cappucino!" for you to throw a bet in on the turn and see what happens. I honestly don't think I...

Re: Blind Stealing, is it worth it

Definitely bet the flop. He could have just about anything and be scared of the A, but when you check twice he knows you don't have it.

I'd usually like a bit stronger hand to steal when I don't...

Re: Set facing action on the turn

The flop donk is terrible. You've got to figure he's going to raise here w/ any good ace and knock out the field. You've got a set, there are no flush or open ended str8 draws on the board. If...
