Re: Luring tells

Haha! Well, Btmagnet, it's not exactly like that! With practice, you can tell if someone is comfortable or not. They may say, 'I'm feeling great.' They may say, 'I be feeling better if you folded.'...

Mike Caro's book of poker tells

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, that was actually the first poker book I ever read (back when I thought maths and poker were only loosely related). It is quite...

Luring tells

Maybe it's because most people play their poker on the internet nowadays but I haven't seen much about tells, body language and psychology on this forum yet.

I have a question.

Do you guys...

Re: Ranking of AK among best starting hands

[ QUOTE ]
The last poster even suggested that if you dont hit with AK you have nothing... well thats just plain wrong... you have a hand that is the best non-pair hand, and you are OFTEN likely...

Re: Is this play +ev? Very situational button limp

There is also the theory that if you raise and get called preflop with a hand like T8s, you will actually make more money when you hit your straights and your trips and what-have-yous because your...

Re: Poker Pro: Almost always slow play top pair????

I think the main thing you have to realise here is that the players are calling stations!!!! Remember? Means you can happily check-fold this one and bet when you have a more secure hand.

As for...

Re: Ranking of AK among best starting hands

To answer your query as to why you find AK harder to play than 22 it's because most of the time 22 is useless after the flop and can be chucked away. Easy.

You can get trapped with AK if you don't...

Re: QQ - what to do with this flop and this raise?

I think your bet is fine... you could get away with betting just two-thirds of the pot but that's just nit-picking.

The beauty of betting two-thirds or more (more aggressive than the standard...

Re: Over-betting Aces a good or bad idea?

I don't mind going all-in pre-flop early in a tournament but I'm not going to actively push for it because I like to be more certain I'm going to win. With AA, you know you're ahead (and going all-in...

Re: Describe POKER on one sentence

It's like Christmas: sometimes you get something really crappy but you have to pretend you're over the moon.

Re: KK on weird board...value bet it?

It seems to me he has no reason to think you are going to bet after his check on the river. After all, you weren't firing on the turn. I don't think he'll check-raise. I think he wants you to check...

Re: Middle Set

I don't think a continuation bet is a good idea here. If you do that, you're betting half of your remaining stack and your opponent will be able to see that you are intentionally committing him. He...

Re: 2/4 NL tough spot with QQ

I know why you might say 'squeeze play' here. But it's also a standard play for AA or KK (considering his 4x blind raise, it's consistent with a big pp). Its either push or fold by the looks of it....

Re: Over-betting Aces a good or bad idea?

In turbo tournaments, where the blinds go up way too quickly, I have a tendency to go all-in in the earliest rounds whenever I'm given AA (as long as there are still a fair few people in the pot)....

Re: Folding pocket pairs

I think the player you were up against was just a bad one. Obviously, the flat call pre-flop was bad. He thought he had the best hand on the flop. And you can see why. But when you re-raised and an...

Re: So I Flopped a Flush.......

After getting so much action on the previous streets, he's no reason to believe he won't get more by straight betting it on the river. I don't see slow-playing worth doing at all. When you mentioned...

Re: One hand - two questions

I don't know why I posted that, I agree with you. If I'm not willing to represent the king on the flop then I can't rightfully bet on the turn. By checking the hand, I'm giving up on the pot and so I...

Re: So I Flopped a Flush.......

A 3-bet is smart. He likely is on a nut flush draw and you need to give him bad odds. If he calls, you have to tighten up. If he pushes, you have to fold.

With his reaction on the river, it was...

Re: Aces versus paired flop

A donk will definitely call in the blinds with 9x. Sometimes you have to fold AA and this is the time to do it. You have to beat these guys in small pots or with the nuts. Be patient and fold hands...

Re: One hand - two questions

Also, I don't c-bet a multiway pot. My plan on the turn would be to see if my opponents bet. If they did, I would fold. If they did not, I would bet.

I just wrote a REALLY long review of this hand and somehow managed to lose it!

My outcome was that the call was only correct if you believed villain would be on a complete bluff one third of the...

Re: I\'m bluffing when I missed my set

What are the chip stacks?

I can see why you might be happy to bet on this flop but I don't see why you should let yourself be put into this situation unless you have really deep stacks.
