Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2007-08 season Thread!*****

Love them both, summer tournaments are awesome. Club football rules them though, just too apathetic about England national team to rate them higher.

Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2007-08 season Thread!*****

Nice to see us scoring 4 despite Ronaldo having a bit of an off day. Rooney/Tevez working better than I thought it would. Lovely 3rd goal, decent strike from Nani too.

Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2007-08 season Thread!*****

Aye, it's fairly well known (or at least suspected) Jol was against the signing of Bent but wasn't given a choice. Managers never last long if the board are forcing players on them.

Re: English Football. (long)

Total opposite if anything, we tend to pick players on reputation/name moreso than what actually works as a team. Regards racism, nah.

Re: English Football. (long)

We rarely played continental football. Passing it around the centre backs a few times then aiming a long ball at the strikers doesn't count as that. Continental football relies on players...

Re: English Football. (long)

Sven's talking arse, Paul Scholes is plenty capable of playing that role. Then he got shunted out wide in favour of Frank [censored] Lampard.

Re: English Football. (long)

2nd essay is spot on, sums up many of my thoughts, the coaching at youth level really does need a mass overhaul.

Re: Formula One final week thread!

Who on earth would bet on Massa winning this race given the championship situation? He was never going to win this unless Raikkonen had car problems or a crash.

Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2007-08 season Thread!*****

I think handball is the "correct" decision. Whilst he is captain he doesn't provide much in the way of goals or creativity. Given that Howard could (should?) have saved the pen and once in a while...

Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2007-08 season Thread!*****

Nah, they're not gonna fall off that much, they still have quality players. I'd be amazed if they scored less than 70 and I doubt anyone outside of the top 4 will get more than that.

mmm not the easiest draw ever but should be straightforward enough at home vs Roma, Sporting and Kiev. Could see us qualifying with 10 points or so.
