Re: Live 2/5: AQo

His stack is 350+125+80 = $505?

This hand is fairly ugly and I think the critical decision is preflop. By calling, you're saying you are willing to play for stacks with top pair. Two postflop...

Re: interesting story from foxwoods 5-10NL

sounds like he was overly upset about being put in his place for the "raise size?" out of turn, and made up some other stories just in case people didn't understand why he was mad.

Re: B&M 3/6 AKs flops 2 pair, Fills up on turn, I just call

There's a lot of MUBSy rationalization here and it's almost tl;dr territory!

Only 1 combination of AA is possible. The board is on steroids and if villain 3bets, you can still feel good about...

Re: Value betting the river in multiway pots

In loose passive games, betting the river on this board (and *usually* calling a raise) shows a profit. The reasons are: in a big pot, people will call with many weaker hands but will not bet a...

Re: I will defend my small blind....what\'s that? 4 bets you say?

Standard 3-bet against a button openraise. AQo obviously is as well. ATo could go either way since this is live - but against a somewhat aggressive player that recognizes position I'd 3 that also.

Re: KQ in BB, fold top pair?

No I don't usually fold especially once it's heads up. By betting out on the flop (which I like) you may have forced him to raise hands like AJ and underpairs. I bet/call the river after this...

Re: Would you consider laying this down?

[ QUOTE ]
Your making the game way too complicated if your considering anything else other than shove here.

Re: 44 Set in the SB

pf call good.
Flop c/r, nice. You'd bet/3bet if that would trap more calls, but it looks like most of the field is in late position. There's a near zero chance this flop is getting checked thru.

Re: Would you consider laying this down?

oh wait i did the math wrong. Hero gets 605:310 to call and MP is often putting in another 210, making it effectively 815:310. Even against AQ this is a profitable situation. Against a slightly...

Re: 2/4 Foxwoods.. what to do in a rock garden?

In a lot of these games, even the rocks will recognize an aggressive blind stealer and tend to call down with any pair, sometimes seeing the river with A-high headsup.

In LP, with one rock limper,...

Re: NL noob seeking advise on correct bet sizes pf & flop

I prefer a plan to get the money in by two near-potsized chunks on the flop and turn. So like, $1.25 and $3. Alternate line is to make villain call you down light with smaller bets, like $0.75,...

Re: Would you consider laying this down?

I'd consider folding it if I was pretty sure a) UTG has AQ and b) the other guy IS folding as well. Because against AQ you want the 3rd player in, to make your call correct with 30-35% pot equity. ...

Re: i\'m doing this more and more

If you're bringing in game theory that implies you have an opponent who recognizes that you're using mixed and not pure strategies.
Many opponents will, when you check, quickly narrow your range to...

Re: 10NL - KJs in SB TP2K against resistance

Yeah, these flop situations are weird for a limit player. Where can you find a fold? I guess your turn action is natural, since you want to put pressure on AK, but you usually are only getting...

Re: First Post With JJ On The Button

heads-up checking is completely fine. I'd probably call if he bet the river, getting 19:1.

whoops sorry more like 10:1 since we're talking big bets now, but still,

Re: When to give up when you miss

Preflop starts a chain reaction of having to bet to win the ever-increasing pot. This happens sometimes, but realizing you're out of position, you might consider limping, then trying to pick up the...

Re: First Post With JJ On The Button

I really don't mind the flop bet. It allows hero to showdown cheaply, since I am not too happy about folding anywhere postflop (your check opens the door for anyone to bet with any pair/draw)
But...

Hmm...Just ran the equity calculation. I put villain on:
A7s, A9, T8s, 97s, 98s, 86s, 65s, 55+
Hero is 51% favorite. So unless I missed a part of his range, I guess the...

Given the read that they are pretty solid players they're not going to call your push with a worse hand. And calling is out, so I fold.
