Re: Is there a term for this?

Even if this isn't exactly what you're looking for, there's some interesting theories about friendships. (http://changingminds.org/explanations/theories/a_friendship.htm)

Re: Breaking out the mundanity of every day life (long)

Ah the moment of truth when you realize; there's more to living than just showing up each day.
You're young. If there's piece of advice a fatherly 58 YO can give, it would be:

Follow your bliss....

Re: Going to Mille Lacs Saturday... Will it suck?

The 3/6 kill game is, well.......interesting. SL is fun for a change of pace.
I hate the room itself. Be prepared for an indifferent floor, reasonably friendly but marginally talented dealers,...

Re: Treasure Island, MN

Other than the SL games, I can't think of any rational reason to make the drive. You hit all of the negatives
- long waits
- lack of dealers
- indifferent floor
add on
- it may be a NS room but...

When the pot is big, your main goal is to protect your hand. Period.

I'll take the, "Do whatever it takes to maximize your chance of winning the pot" approach.

Re: TPNK in BB

I generally won't lead this flop, w TPNK, into 4 opponents.
It's one of those, "yeah I flopped TP but with two in the playing zone, multiple opponents and I hate my hand". I check and see what...

Re: Getting Killed in Vegas 2/4 Games and Can\'t Find a Way Out

OP - Make sure you understand the theory behind the concepts outlined in SSHE. Study the book, don't just read it. It's not unusual to spew chips when you first start trying to apply what you "think"...

Re: Canterbury: Cash games during FPC?

Forget about playing any blue chip game Fri or Sat night. Unless you don't mind waiting. 3 tables @ 2/4 & 3/6 with 35+ waiting. 3-4 tables 4/8 20+ waiting. 6/12^ goes pretty fast. Games have been...

Flop: Good. You don't want to go for a checkraise because you really can't count on villian betting AK and TT type hands with the read you have on him.

Re: TPTK vs. c/r 3-bet?

Pretty easy fold pF.
Feels like a couple of over cards with a BDFD, an over pair or set.
Meh, the price is attractive to call but I hate playing a big pot stuck between a couple of aggro monkeys...

Re: 2-4 hand....JJ.....HU against a preflop 3better

I'm not fond of capping JJ OOP.
Flop is okay.
Check call the turn with your draws.
Check fold river.

Re: ATs vs LAG

Isn't the OP better served by leading this flop? Normally I'd take a c/c line HU but not against 3 opponents.
If the hero checks, he risks getting pushed off his hand by a villain bet, and a raise...

Re: Can I three bet this river? straight, board pair

3 bet is fine. To me, the villain's passive turn play sure makes a flopped set less likely. I mean, what's he worried about getting there with the 5s?
Feels like he went with plan B on running 5's...
