Re: I just call (to say, I hate you)

In addition to what others have said, wouldn't cleaning up your ace be another argument for raising the flop? Its a field of limpers, and there are several A-blah hands that limp...and most of them...

Re: 15-30 turn raise

I might be missing something, but i'm wondering why we'd want to try for a river c/r here. If villian has a hand like AKs or 88 he's not betting the river unless he hits...and if he hits (unless he...

Re: 20/40 You Lose All The Bets You Don\'t Defend (multi-hand play along)

Elindaur made a post a long time ago about this exact situation. I prefer to call most of the time, and c/r any flop, if i feel like fighting over a small pot and/or defending my blind. You're 3...

QQ-not sure what to do

Live 15-30. UTG is sorta weak abc. MP1 is lag-tastic, but not stupid. I'm in the HJ. C/O is solid, probably the best player in the game.

UTG Limps. MP1 raises (very wide range here, like 67s...

button shouldnt be raising a worse hand for value on the turn ever: T9s would be very close and probably the less variance play is objectively preferable and maintaining implied odds...

How often would he really raise a gutshot or spades draw here?

[/ QUOTE ]

100% of the time

[ QUOTE ]
If he's that bad, why not wait for a better spot to get chips in vs. him?

this one made me smile, but am i trying to hard?

Live 20/40. Button is a lag who will bet/raise with any piece of the board (gutshots included), and has zip for PF standards. MP1 is an ABC conservative player, mix of rock and nit. My image is...

I'm interested in a couple aspects of this hand.

1. what on earth is the killer calling the turn bet with? ...

Re: turn decision

i would raise the flop. Loose-passive players are not folding over cards here, and certainly not folding a pair. You get a lot of action from hands that are drawing dead.

Given the way you...

results/thoughts

Thanks to everybody who posted. My line of thinking on the flop was if i'm ahead, i'm in trouble, and there aren't many turn cards i really want to see. That combined with 4 people left to act...

Re: AA...adjusting to NL from Limit

I don't recall saying they were clueless. I do recall saying post flop they were passive and straightforward. The bet conversation is different in every game. Sometimes a pot sized bet means "hi,...

Re: AA...adjusting to NL from Limit

In a game like this i do it frequently with a lot of hands, since a lot of times the re-raise would pick up the whole pot. I'm not sure how close of attention these opponents were paying, but my...

AA...adjusting to NL from Limit

3-5 blind 100-300 capped buy in Live game. Game is playing pretty aggressive preflop, with passive/straightforward play post flop. Its 9 handed. I've got about 400, and have an average sized...

There's been a couple threads over the last few days on Tunica. All of your 10-20 and 20-40 games will be at the Horseshoe. Gold Strike is mainly a 1-2NL and 3-6 limit house. I wouldn't...

3-bet all-in for sure. If you just called there would be ~450 in the pot w/ about ~300 behind so you wouldn't really be able to get away from the hand anyway. Oh yeah, pot the flop.

3-5 Blind B&M. 100-300 buyin. I'm MP2 with about 500, the button has me covered. He's demonstrated himself to be very aggressive, and i've seen him overplay top pair several times (kickerless top...

Re: KK hand...i\'m a NL noob and need some input

Thanks for the comments so far. Here's some of my reasoning.

I didn't reraise on the flop because of the combined chance that i was behind, and if i wasn't behind i was in trouble (nut flush draw...

KK hand...i\'m a NL noob and need some input

3/5 blinds. $300 max buy in NL game (b&M). UTG is relatively straight forward, and has predictable standards. Wide to limp, not so much to call a raise. I've seen in limp/fold a lot. I've been...

But, I've been looking for situations to instead go for a 3-bet/fold line. Against someone that you describe as "playing tightly postflop" I think this is a candidate, because he will...
