Re: 10/20 LO8 starting hand

A2 excepted, I generally throw away any hand with which I cannot make more than one straight with an ace. A36x might be another exception.

Re: 5th premium pair

You went for the check-raise to clear the field, and unfortunately you missed. Given that bettor is from your left, you should still raise. One of two things will happen. 1. Although you're bloating...

Re: worth the steal

Fair enough, I stand corrected. This is a good reminder that I probably need to review some old books again.

Re: Question concerning an example in SOR

I would suggest you reread my post again, with emphasis on the preface, as well as Prax's questions in this thread. I could get into more details if you'd like.

Let's just tackle one: Where am I...

Re: 10/20 Stud 8 Live

Results:

I checked, Seat 7 checked, Seat 8 thought and checked, and turned over a 75 low, but I didnt see what his high hand was. I scooped the pot. Never saw what Seat 7 had, but he was a little...

Re: 10/20 Stud 8 Live

I thought for sure seat 8 would bet a 75 low, even without a high hand, hence making a CR the best play.

Over a long lunch a couple of weeks back, I sat down with an old pro at this game. Well, he's not really a pro, but a serious recreational player. He was a consistent winner at mixed games up to...

Re: Stud 8: Hi, Variance...

I don't find a fold anywhere.

4th is a call. You picked up enough help, the pot was made too big on 3rd, and you're closing the action. In fact, the additional callers in this hand might be...

Re: .25/.50 LO8 I\'m horrible at playing Aces.

I know it's not part of your question, but I think this precise hand UTG, with double suited aces and a bad low, is a good opportunity for you to re-examine some of the reasons you would raise...

Re: Limit O8, large pot, what to do on turn

It's not really bluffing. It's raising to drive out a better hand so you have more outs in a big pot. If you can get XXQQ to fold, you've done great.

Re: Live 3/6 vs. 1/5 ?

They really should pass around a dealer button at the 3/6 and have that player post an ante of $1.

Re: 10/20 LO8 Tricky Spot with Strong High

Absolutely, you have the second nuts for high and he doesn't have aces. there's always a chance he doesn't have a low and call with aces up.

Re: trips against paired door card

Yeah pretty much. It's like HE where you're way ahead or way behind, but this being stud, you're not terribly behind. You lose the least possible when you're behind, or you let your opponent bet off...
