Re: live $6/12 - 2nd nuts - when to stop raising

I have never seen a 6-bet river where the 2nd nuts is winner. That said, it's nearly impossible to believe villain has KK here.

Also, remember that from HIS perspective, KK isn't the nuts, JJ is....

Re: A quick checkup.

What is my read on me (i.e. my image)?

If it's at least somewhat tight, I raise 1-3. In #4, it depends on what kind of passivity we can expect from UTG postflop. He likely has a better hand than...

Re: Fun w/ ATs

[ QUOTE ]
In LA this would be an easy value bet, but there are plenty of people in Vegas who will check-fold hands like K8 on this river.

Well sure, but did you have specifiic...

Re: Review, Advanced Limit Holdem Strategy (Tanenbaum)

I reread my original post after reading yours and think I overstated things a bit--particularly with the phrase "crazy action player."

To be precise, Barry's text defines the Illusion of Action as...

Review, Advanced Limit Holdem Strategy (Tanenbaum)

I just finished reading this book and thought I'd post some thoughts.

As preface, I confess to a personal bias, having been an occasional student of Barry Tanenbaum’s through the years. Without...

Re: 40-80 Commerce Line - Way Ahead Heads Up

[ QUOTE ]
[but the important thing to take home is that "as played" shouldn't have to be said when discussing this hand. Its better to find the errors made in a hand like this (pre-flop and flop)...

More tales of silly/stupid LA players (LC)

This is a share my story/just for fun post.

Playing 6/12 at Hollywood Park, I'm seated next to a guy who claims to have been in the 40/80 game "all night" (which itself is odd because it's 8:00...

Re: Again, my river play is poor

Bet if you think you can safely fold to a raise (which I think you can, unless the players are unusually tricky). If you'd feel compelled to pay off a raise, then check.

Re: Live 6/12: A4s from the BB

I am in the bet/fold the river camp...because it is close... and whenever it is close I bet, and I'm stunned by what they call with. This assumes you can safely fold to a raise, which is pretty safe...

Re: Potential 2+2 Books: Short-handed NLHE, Heads-up NLHE, and PLO

I am very curious about this since, IMO, the PLO and HU-NLHE books would have difficulty finding an audience.

All recent 2+2 releases addressed games popular with the "masses" [NL Tourneys...

Re: Bankrolling 17 year old kid

I can't tell if this is a joke or not.

Assuming it's serious...has your kid asked you for a $1,000 bankroll? Is this something he wants, or you want? Does he like to play HU SNGs?

And finally,...

Re: Discuss: A Las Vegas Sports Shopping Trip

Hot damn!

remember, in the grand scheme of things, the results don't matter.

It is not important to count the winners and losers in the bets I made...The gist of this article is the thought process and preparation involved in making the bets.

Re: Fun w/ K8o

Apparently, I am Mr. Weak-Tight.

I fold PF. Play flop same way. Check turn planning to fold if action is check-bet-raise or check-check-bet.

There is a bit more interest in limit games lately, but game selection is still not great. Expect multiple 3/6 LHE with a short wait. 4/8 half LHE/half Omaha Hi has been going lately a...

I don't know what has historically been considered a "bannable" offence, but CM's post was way out of line.

Sorry for a semi-hijack, but can anyone comment on the limit games as well. What limits/games are available on a typical weekend?

Re: New D&B shorthanded book by Borer, Mak &Tanenbaum......

I do not know the status of the...

Re: Volume 1 Review Thread, \"Fundamentals\" Question (pp. 87-88)

Just got the book. Has the "Hand 3" example on pp 87-88 been discussed anywhere (I searched but didn't find)? I think the authors made an error here. At the very least, they didn't write the example...

Headed to Vegas for a 4-5 day trip in the fall, with family. Looking for a place with a family vibe, and things that kids would enjoy (pools, playgrounds, places to run around).

Well off-strip...
