Re: GMAT preparation
FWIW, everyone I know (very limited sample size < 10) scored higher on the actual test than on the practice tests.
I think I scored about 720 on my first practice and 760 after some practice,...

Re: GMAT preparation
I'm starting at Notre Dame with close to a full fellowship. I got rejected at University of Chicago which was my first choice, and a couple of other schools.
Reasons I suspect led to my...

Re: GMAT preparation
I bought both the Kaplan books, the regular and the GMAT 800.
Studied on and off for 4 weeks I think, did a few practice test off the gmac website and from the kaplan books.
My strategy was...

Re: Sheriff Thread
Not a huge pot, but I was almost certain I was best on river.

Re: Floating...is this ever a good idea?
Against a good player, if you get your money in on the turn you are behind. Unless you are maybe short stacked or you occasionally trick him. Against a bad player I've seen this work.

Re: AA facing big raise live
In my experience that range is way too tight for low limit live poker. In face I consider K9 one of his most likely hands.

Re: Bottom Two action? Live
Bottom two on the flop facing heavy heat I think you are in a funny spot. If you go all in, you rarely get called by a hand you beat, if you slow it down its hard to know where you are on the turn....

Re: NL 100 - Mid set on flop, 5th nut
ya it seems silly now rereading it but I guess its just a bad board to hit a set on. I will definitely lead a little smaller next time, but am otherwise happy.

Re: AA facing big raise live
This raise means one of two things in my experience.
-he has a hand that beats aces and wants to stack you
-he has a king (AK, KQ usually) and thinks its the nuts (ie overaggressive donk)
Just...

NL 100 - Mid set on flop, 5th nut
I led the flop strong but immediately after I did, I regretted it. Since my line looks so strong, it allows my opponents (who seemed to play well) to fold anything I beat quite easily.
A check...

Re: 1/2 NL live: building pot for set
I don't make that raise. If I am making a raise out of the blinds, it is never to bloat the pot so that if I spike I can win a big pot. If I raise out of the blinds it is to try and pick up the...

Re: My 1st Full Ring Hand Post
I fold for the $18 on the flop. In a limped pot, you could possibly be drawing to a chop anyway, and its pretty hard to get paid off if an A or 6 drops. It doesn't really pay to draw to non-nut...
