Re: Controlling pot sizes

[ QUOTE ]
raise more preflop to 1.50/1.75.

[/ QUOTE ]
My usual line is $1 + $.25 per limper. I actually raised to $1.25 here but the converter took out my SB.

[ QUOTE ]

flop bet is meh.

Controlling pot sizes

I seem to be losing a lot of pots lately that are far bigger than they should be given the hands I have (TPTK type of scenario). I'm really lost as to how to bet in such a way that I control the...

Re: How badly was this played?

[ QUOTE ]

Flop K-Q-8 rainbow. Player 1 checks, Player two bets $100. Button calls, big blind folds. Player 1 raises to $600. Player two folds, button reraises to $1100. Player 1 calls.

Re: Intro and is this weak tight?

This is where a program like PokerTracker or PokerOffice is really handy. If this is a villian with an aggression factor of 0.5 doing this, you can safely exit the hand. Otherwise I'm calling.

Re: Question: when to fire second bullet

Remember that a continuation bet is hardly mandatory. With pokeroffice I can easily show someone's cont. bet percentage, and using that stat pick off their bets just like you've been experiencing. ...

[ QUOTE ]
Holy crap. That is a donkey.

Anyone with high PFR and VPIP and low aggression are super donkeys. I think our donkey caught a hand here.

Aggression is the factor in your read that...

Re: I flopped the second nuts; WTF is going on here?

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]

River bet gives it away I think. I think villian figured you for a flush draw and bet that tiny river bet to get a few more pennies out of his made flush.

Re: I flopped the second nuts; WTF is going on here?

This is one spot where I think the only line that makes sense for villian is also a flush.

Re: NL25, advice needed on how to play flush draws

[ QUOTE ]
Hand 1, let's say I call the flop bet. The pot will be $14.10 and there will be $16 left in my stack. How small must his bet be for me to call again on the turn, if the turn card doesn't...

Re: AQ line check

I pot it on the flop with the flush draw on board. I keep leading like you did, and likely fold to a river raise by a passive opponent.

Re: NL25, advice needed on how to play flush draws

Hand 1: Your flop raise leaves villian with around $5 if he calls. In other words, push and maximize your fold equity.

[edit] I say push only in the context of the raise here. I don't think...

Re: I suck, but I want to learn

You are likely not a winning player right now not due to the hands you posted (lots of bad beats in there and the classic AA -vs- KK), but because you are failing to extract maximum value for the...

Re: NL25-AQs line check

As pointed out in another thread, you push these draws to maximize fold equity. The problem is that I don't think you have any fold equity here. Villian either has an overpair or a set, so is...

Re: Um, Misclick? Drunk? Philanthropist? Genius? WTFWTFWTF

[ QUOTE ]
Can someone explain why pushing quads here is a good play? Given the pot size on the turn wouldn't two psb get it all in? It would be tough to lay down AK to two psb...atleast for me but I...

Re: $50 NL: Hand Reading Exercise-You Make The Call

Your range for villian is way way too small. About 10 minutes ago I just played (at 50NL) AA in a similar way (raise in front, 1 caller, I raise to 7, both call). 2nd caller had J9o, first caller...

Re: KK/AA pre flop

I think not re-raising AA/KK pre-flop is a mistake most of the time.

There's lots of cases where 88-QQ will raise pre-flop but shut down completely on the flop if there are overs. If you just...

I think I butchered this drawing hand.

I've been trying to practice playing my big draws much more aggresively, and then this happens. I know I'm getting really nice pot odds here, but I don't think I'm just up against TP on that flop. ...

Re: NL25 - How should I play low suited cards

Ewwww! Fold pre-flop!

You're obviously only playing the hand for flush value, so get the value!

But seriously, fold pre-flop.
