Re: Unsuited Connectors

[ QUOTE ]
I review the bible on an almost continuous basis, and just two days ago realized that with tons of limps I should play 54s in the CO. Sure enough, yesterday I limped into a 7 way pot with...

Re: 8/16 Live Thin Value Raises

[ QUOTE ]
Hand 1: Villian LIMPED PF AND didn't cap. No evidence of KK. flop c/r is most often associated with 2 pair. Simply put, will you be right about that 2/3's of the time, because if you...

Re: Unsuited Connectors

Are we mastering the obvious today? I guess you didn't catch the half-serious nature of my post.

But.. At a table full of limpers... it's all the reason I need. Okay, 97o is -0.11EV PF, but...

Re: Unsuited Connectors

I honestly can't tell you how much money I've won limping 97o... it's like a flop-hitting magnet for me.

Re: Unsuited Connectors

If it's a limpfest and the table is allowing me to limp JTo and T9o in LP then I'm limping them all day long.

Re: Can players with very loose preflop selection be winners?

This is exactly right. I have been at tables where the maniac manages to hypnotize two or three loose passives/callingstations into going berzerk..and then shortly thereafter the maniac has those...

Re: Can players with very loose preflop selection be winners?

Well, there is a big difference between loosening up generally at a typical table and playing at a table with a maniac. I think the best strategy against a maniac is to tighten up PF and make them...

Re: Can players with very loose preflop selection be winners?

I'm actually not overly tight PF.. (ie: limping with Kxs, Qxs, 64s, 97o, etc...). I like to see more flops than the average rock, and play tight (and hopefully not too weakly) from then on.

Re: Rivered under FH vs. stuck borderline maniac

Tough hand. Nothing sucks harder than being out-boated.. especially by a tilting lagtard. Hard to fault your play here.

Just ask yourself what you were feeling/thinking when you 3-banged the...

Re: Live 6/12: Straight Draw on the button

True enough... in the abstract it's hard to put someone on 53, but don't forget about 75 as well. I'm just saying that when someone bumps the flop and checks behind on a turn card that seems a...

Re: Can players with very loose preflop selection be winners?

Agreeing with One Outer (sorry man)... as described, this is heehaw poker. But it IS possible to loosen up a little PF, especially if you can see more flops cheaply, and play better than the...

Re: Live 6/12: Straight Draw on the button

Raising the flop is fine, as you're building the pot if you hit your 8 outer and (hopefully) buy a free card. The fact that it's a rainbow board keeps the downside risk of hitting and losing to a...

Re: I turn a set and check-call

mtn, i most definitely plead guilty to having a weak-tight streak in me. I try to balance that tendency by playing decent cards and getting my good hands to showdown.. And I wasn't necessarily...

Re: I turn a set and check-call

The passives I play with would call a single raise in the BB with 65s every time. Wouldn't any good player? Just because a player is passive doesn't make him an idiot.

Re: I turn a set and check-call

Isn't there a good chance he flopped a set and correctly puts you on an overpair? There's no way you can fold the river UI. Although you're behind A5 (and a much less likely 65 since he's...

But if your theory holds true that showing a good fold on the river leads to getting bluffed/played back at, isn't that accomplishing the same goal of encouraging action? If I'm going to be at a...

Re: metagame BET/CALL (payoff)

What good is experience and reads if we don't use them to go against dogma? I would be particularly prone to fold late in a session. There is no metagame if you are leaving the table shortly.
