Calling the flop bet is awful. Make a raise and go from there. If reraised, then you have a decision, but not protecting your hand is simply bad poker.

The thing about nits is you will rarely get bluffs from them so your line isn't a maximizing one and just lets them pass you sometimes as in this hand. I would just bet the turn thinking I wasn't...
