Re: WTO\'s impotence???? Serious question

I wouldn't assume that the sanctions will be toothless. We will see. Probably soon.

Re: November 14th: House Judiciary Committee Hearing Thread

TE and D$D, please find a way to stop fighting with each other. This does not help us at all.

Re: Proposed internet poker ban in MA/Jim Braude

There is no way in the world we should accept a bill that could be interpreted as banning us. And this bill could.

I don't know who perma is. But I do know that anyone who argues in favor of...

Re: Proposed internet poker ban in MA

Is there a forum for fantasy sports?

The bill, as proposed, criminalizes them as well. So if that community is organized, we ought to be able to get support there.

Noticing State legislation

I am trying to figure out if there is a way to use Google searches to notice State legislation that is of interest to us. I am running into a problem, and I am wondering if anybody knows the cause...

PPA

One issue is that the PPA does not appear to be able to notice pending state legislation. It missed the WA bill entirely. And this board alerted it to the MA bill, rather than the other way around....

Re: Please allow me to introduce myself

I believe the issues with the PPA are serious, and Mason is right to take them seriously. Sometimes, taking an issue seriously requires one to do something that appears nasty -- and I think that's...

Mass. General Law 137 and internet poker

Does anyone know whether Mass. General Law 137 applies to internet poker?

Definition of "gaming" for purposes of Mass. law:

"Gaming'', "illegal gaming'' or "unlawful gaming'' shall include...

PPA --

I think you are doing a great job with this response. I just want to point something out:

It was basically happenstance that our community noticed this. And no one noticed the WA bill...

Re: Proposed internet poker ban in MA

Reading the proposed law, it looks like this criminalizes fantasy sports as well as online poker. I have to imagine that we can get some support from that community. Who are the major players...

Re: Proposed internet poker ban in MA

I talked to the Legislative section of the Governor's office. The people there gave me the usual BS about how the state is protecting us by controlling where we can gamble.

I made some phone calls, and have found out that the bill is currently in the following committee:

I called the Governor's office too; said I thought the provision was unfair. How does one follow up?

Re: Proposed internet poker ban in MA

Yes. And this time, the internet poker ban and the B&M proposal are in the very same bill. The connection couldn't be more clear.

Re: Proposed internet poker ban in MA

In Washington state, they snuck through a provision very similar to the one in the MA bill. People in 2+2 didn't even know about it until it was law.

I called the Governor's office. I also wrote a reporter at the Boston Globe, pointing out the legal challenge in WA.

Unfortunately, I can't see any sign that anything has come from either of...

Re: Proposed internet poker ban in MA
