Re: Professional No-Limit Hold \'em Volume 1 Review Thread

Ahhh of course, the extra outs due to the extra card on the turn. Nice one thanks.

Re: 50NL- QQ 3bet with interesting flop

At 50NL, what I see of it, 3betting light is a way of life for positionally aware tags on the button. I reraise will all sorts of hands. I really don't see how we can narrow his range down to AA KK....

Re: Professional No-Limit Hold \'em Volume 1 Review Thread

Have the book now. I'm reading the Equity bit. It has a hand of 7s7h on a flop of 8d7c6d and you get raised all in. It says your equity against the straights is 35%. I'm sure this is obvious but how...

Re: 25NL - TP for stacks

It doesn't get to the river, UTG went all in on the turn.

I don't mind the button raise as a steal to punish the limper but you don't wanna play the rest of the hand against unknowns as if you...

Re: I play terrible, but I make decent draw on the turn, now what?

Well if you reckon you have 3:1 then you multiply your bet by 3 and take off the explicit odds. i.e. 3x8=24. 24-16.75 = 7.25

So you need to make upo 7.25 to break even. Which, despite my...

Re: Professional No-Limit Hold \'em Volume 1 Review Thread

Hmm something weird there. Something to do with the fact that hero has just joined and is posting the extra blind? Anyway I assume he bets and BB calls. I'm interested to know what PNL "says" about...

Re: I play terrible, but I make decent draw on the turn, now what?

Not got a huge problem with calling a minraise pre-flop but I'd more often reraise him on the button or just fold.

Fold the flop. You have nothing. He could have easily hit a Q. You don't the...

Re: Professional No-Limit Hold \'em Volume 1 Review Thread

Sorry it this isn't appropriate but looking at the book's subjects I'm interested to know what the book's teachings would say about this hand. I'm thinking of balancing commitment, protection and pot...

Re: Aces in 3bet pot on a wtf board

I think you played this well.

Flop bet was nicely sized to get a call from weaker hands but price out the weaker draws. No point in betting the turn since a non K folds and a K raises or slowplays...

Re: protecting 66 from possible draws, played correctly?

Villains range is pretty wide PF because he plays a lot of hands but doesn't raise many of em. I find it hard to put him on a useful range that that point. Could easily include various pairs,...

Re: oops I limped AA again

I get the impression with these AA L/RR posts that you are trying to prove a point?

I don't have a big problem with L/RRing AA if you know you are gonna get raised. However it does turn your hand...

whats wrong with the minraised turn? the guy only had 3.8 left and i didnt want to scare my customer away... i was sure i could get it in on river... min raising just lessened the chance...

Re: limp raising AA utg

I think limp raising PF if fine if you think it will work but I wouldn't be expecting that particular villain to raise you all that much given his stats.

As played from the flop onwards: I would...

Ciaffone's 5-10 rule example is that you have 98s on the button

Re: stupid raise?

If you think you can push him off it then the raise was fine obviously but his stats do look like those of a calling station. I also think the turn bet looks a bit like a push-off rather than a value...

Re: 50NL How do I play my MP and Big draw

I like a flop shove. You either get to take it down immediately or see both streets - which you have the odds for.

Re: 25 NL set of 8s vs Donk

I don't see the flop raise being all that bad. If the read and range was such that you thought the flop bet was a bluff then a c/r might well take it down. It's not like just calling with 88 is all...

Re: Professional No-Limit Hold \'em Volume 1 Review Thread

So this SPR thing - it sounds like it's something the authors thought up for the book rather than something they actually used as part of their daily professional play. Is that correct?

Re: 25 NL set of 8s vs Donk

Planning to C/R isn't such a bad idea....except what leads you to believe he will bet the turn?. He's just seen you raise his flop bet. Too risky given the flop. Just bet it out.

Also your flop...

Re: SSHE - Relevence for Small Stakes No Limit?

Yeah obviously I meant limit. It couldn't be a limit book designed for no-limit!

Re: Getting raised on paired flop

1. Usually raise more PF. I'd play it the same. There are quite a few hands you might fold by repping a K like that. But he raised you indicating he's not scared of the K.

2. People often raise...

I think its odd that people can't accept that limping can be good in NLTH. If your table is passive and you are comfortable postflop then limping all sorts of hands from all sorts of...
