yes, we group equities into an asset class. i'm fine with grouping long-short funds into an asset class, and credit arb fnds into an asset class, etc But to combine them all would be more analogous...

Hedge funds are a hugely diverse set of investment funds. Their investment objectives range so widely that comparing a group of hedge funds to anything is a worthless exercise.

another good option if you want to rebalance often is to go the interactive brokers route. half a penny a share, minimum charge of ~10 a year i think.

there are savings accounts that pay above 4.9%. You'd be a fool a fool to pay off the car loan. If rates come in in the future, you can pay it off then.

unless you are getting a deal on the fees, the fund of funds is likely a huge waste of money. is somewhat humorous that half of your portfolio is in low-fee vanguard, and then 20% is in a vehicle...
