Re: Status of the Trop ?

I've never had a problem with the bathrooms at the Trop...maybe it's just the men's rooms? What are you people doing in there?
And I've had slow drink service at every poker room I've played at in...

Re: Trop poker room in AC - decreasing in size

I really like the Trop, they're really good about poker rate rooms, the dealers are good, I don't think it's that dirty, I mean, if you're still playing at the right time you see them vacumn, and the...

Re: Massively behind schedule for million hand prop bet with brother

If you play 0.01/0.02 NL, then you can put it on check/fold, and only lose $0.03 per 10 hands, assuming full table. So you lose .03 in 100,000 rounds, or $3000. Basically, this should have been a...

Mambo Stud

So according to NJ state regulations, one of the poker games AC card rooms are authorized to spread is Mambo stud. I had never heard of this game till I read the act, and was wondering if anyone had...

Re: Another \"who gets kicked in the nutz\"

Having played alot of live Omaha 8/b, cards talk like hell, but only once they've been turned up. This seems a bit borderline, since he tried to table his hand. I would say, don't interfere, but...

Re: Card protectors

It really doesn't matter if a card protector is heavy or not, unless it's a matter of personal preference. In the AC regulations at least, if you have a chip on your cards, or they are otherwise...

Re: 1/2 NL Grinder

The one thing I've always wondered about for the lowish stakes pro is health insurance. Covered under your gf's plan? Or just going without? I'm probably a bit paranoid, but it always seemed a big...

Russian Poker?

I'm going to be in Russia for a couple weeks, and looking around the internet it seems they do have quite a few cardrooms. Has anyone been? My Russian is very rudimentary, but I'm thinking as long...

Re: Red doesn’t play here

Wouldn't 2/4 with $2 chips have more action, since "Hey, it's only one chip to call?"

Re: \"Don\'t answer that phone, sir!\"

Isn't it easy enough to turn the phone to vibrate, finish the hand, look to see who called, and call them back? It's not like hands take hours to play. Even if you're playing a draw game you'll...

Re: Inappropriate Dealer Conduct?

I'm sure the other guy in the hand remembers that you bet $12 on the flop, so the comment had no impact on the play of the hand. Dealer was probably bored. The Trop is awesome, and I've never had a...

Re: Verbal call versus putting in chips

You are not a jerk, you said call, verbal statement is binding. It's easy enough to count out the bet after the hands are flipped.

Re: Is there any NL game in AC with a max buy-in of $100?

If you don't want to play short stack, and you don't want to buy in for more than $100, then you shouldn't play 1/2 NL. Even if you find a game where the max buy is $100, $100 is a short buy for 1/2...

Re: Is there any NL game in AC with a max buy-in of $100?

Nothing wrong with buying in short. I used to buy into 1/2 games with $120 and did very well. The only reason I started buying in for more is because I got bored and play higher variance poker now...

Re: Any tips on dealing with smoke?

I heard one of the reasons Johhny Chan started carrying around an orange is that the smell helps with smoke. Don't know how well it works, but worth a try.

Re: is this a raise

I think at the Trop, putting out an amount that is greater than the original bet by more than half the original bet counts as a min raise, though I've seen rulings go different ways.

Re: I make banks run out of hundreds

I've noticed some ATMs in my area have started giving $50 and $100 bills, and these are at 7-11s, so I think more places will have them soon.

Also, while we're talking about cash, I'm going to...

Re: How to sanction side bets

The pile idea works really well assuming you're sitting next to each other, otherwise just have the money off to the side and walk it around the table after the bet. I used to play red/black all the...

Re: small preflop raises - I like them

At these stakes everyone's going to call your raise, so unless you hit the flop pretty hard you're basically building a pot for someone else. If you have a good enough hand you want to raise the...

Re: Bummed about new Borgata poker rates

I'm never going to be able to stay at the Borg again, since I never remember to clock out my stupid card. I hate that system. Between the Borgata and the Taj I'm missing hundreds of hours.

Re: Bummed about new Borgata poker rates

The Trop has a decent poker rate, though they also bump it up in the summer.
