Re: Caught in the middle again.

I think this is a call preflop, and on the flop you are going to play your hand as the best hand until shown otherwise. So that means raise.

Re: How\'s my river play here?

Played fine on all streets. Just call river. I'd only reraise if I knew from past experience this guy is a fool.

Re: Wierdos

When playing against someone who folds the river too much and in odd situations, it's gotta be +EV to build pots on the turn with big semi-bluffs (like this).

I feel the pressure you put on the...

Re: November Low-Content Thread

Joker's numbers would translate into +/- 26 BB/100 SD, assuming 33 hands/hour.

That's pretty high for limit holdem (I often hear people mention 17BB-19BB SDs) but not too surprising for the rather...

Re: 96s button

I agree with raise the flop. Whether to bet the turn or not depends entirely on villain. Usually you should just take a free card, but there are some loose players I would definitely bet all the way.

Re: 10/20 River Decision with Broadway

I generally agree with Proofrock in that the four-bet is going to be 99 and 44/100 pure nuts. If we get four-bet and our opponent is not a raving looney, our hand is beaten 100% of the time, period....

Re: 10/20 River Decision with Broadway

So Joe, reading your last three posts:

You believe the correct play is to 3-bet the river and fold to a 4 bet, yes?

Re: 10/20 River Decision with Broadway

What is it with all the hero folds on the river? Every thread these days has someone advocating:

- Putting in a ton of action on the river and then folding to a three, four, or five bet.

or

Re: Bizarre river raise

I would 3-bet.

I feel his most likely hand is a high pocket pair or A9 that is raising the river for value, banking that he's usually ahead and that on this scattered board you won't have a...

[ QUOTE ]

I wish I had raised the river...not for value, but to avoid having to show my hand.

This would have been the worst mistake of all.

Show your hand, say 'Man I put you...

Re: loosening up.

You can pretty much accomplish all necessary image manipulation by raising very aggressively in late position.

Good players will not really change their image of you much.

Bad players will peg...

Re: No aces for me

I find that to avoid personal tilt, it's almost always necessary for me to tighten up significantly after making a really bad mistake. Also, when I lose four or five hands in a row, regardless of how...

If I know her raising standards include hands like Q9s, should I still fold?

Yes.

You are out of position and this hand is likely at the bottom of her range, and she...

Re: What is the most -EV hand in limit hold\'em?

I don't remember the place, but I saw a chart with the average win/loss of every hand played, among all players for an entire site. I think the site was Pacific Poker.

The biggest losses by far...

Re: 20/40 foxwoods, flop spot

The pair on the flop hurts you more than it helps. While he might not have a queen, you have a terrible hand because you can't even suck out with two pair.

Unless you have an extremely specific...

Re: September Low-Content Thread

Lets consider the result of each 100 hands to be a measurement of your winrate, with a mean x=winrate and sigmax^2=variance. Each measurement is independent.

We want to know the mean and variance...

Re: 20/40 foxwoods, do you guys fold this anywhere?

This is a simple fold on the turn unless your opponent is unusual for a 20/40 game.

Re: September Low-Content Thread

I don't know if this is the type of answer you are looking for, but:

Many estimates indicate an standard deviation of about 17BB/100 for 6-8 player hold em poker. Let's assume your day was about...

Re: Moving to LA to play pro @ commerce? (long)

It would be a disaster for you to move to LA, the last thing we need is more good players.

Oh, I just realized you don't care about helping my bankrools. In that case, consider the following...
