Re: Would I look like a complete dork/loser/etc if I brought a bag lunch?

I saw a man, at Bellagio, who brought some kind of survival chili that came complete with its own way to cook and heat itself, kind of like the MREs. I guess if it flies at Bellagio, why not at...

Re: Moving to LA to play pro @ commerce? (long)

Then if he wasn't worried about limited bankroll/variance, he shouldn't have said in the OP that he was. Terribly, terribly rude to give wrong information and then to yell at other people (or have...

Re: How long can American stay in other country?

I have expatriot relatives and to the best of my knowledge you never have to visit the U.S. to retain citizenship. However, once you are over age 65, you don't get Medicare unless you actually live...

Re: best cheap place in the USA

Do you want to play live games or just play online? There aren't so many places to suggest if you must play live.

Re: Tunica

Comps are so easy at the Horseshoe. Call the room in advance for poker rate. They put you at the Grand, but it's fine unless you plan to be drinking -- Tunica has enforcement of DUI laws. It's a...

Re: Moving to LA to play pro @ commerce? (long)

There's a fried Korean flat fish that's really good. Also there's an Asian duck with a lot of bones in it, I think Chinese, that's really tasty. I agree that California fruit is often surprisingly...

Re: Harrah\'s Card Room CHEATS player

Honestly, I live in New Orleans and I don't play there. You have a casino that has refused to pay not one, but several, jackpots over the years, and you expect fair decisions? I have no knowledge...

Re: Moving to LA to play pro @ commerce? (long)

This poster has caught the clue train. If you don't like variance, you don't have any business at Commerce. The maniacs in these games will roll right over you. You must work on the...

Re: Ask Josem about visiting/living in Australia

This begs the question -- what then do you call tomato paste?

Serious question: since you call ketchup "tomato sauce," what do you call tomato sauce (stuff you put on...

True dat...but I'm a wicked, wicked person and I prefer to cancel the card and then move on to a new credit card with a new offer.

Re: How do you fly for cheap?

If you fly only once or twice a year, there isn't much you can do other than search, search, search. Most likely to get good results late Tuesday/early Wednesday. Never wait until less than 7 days...

Re: Looking for a beach trip, no passport

I'm pretty easy, I guess, if it's got a palm tree on it, it's tropical enough for me, although a good part of the northern Gulf of Mexico is technically speaking only the subtropics. I wouldn't...

Re: ftp just go down for anyone else?

Got a note that they're experiencing connection problems and all tournaments are paused. Cash games seem to have everyone sitting out. "Please stand by."

Re: Looking for a beach trip, no passport

The northern Gulf of Mexico (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida) is just as cheap as Puerto Rico. Cheaper really, in many places. I don't fully understand how soon you are leaving,...

Oh, wow. Didn't realize there were two threads on this. As I said in the other thread, a close relative of mine taught English in Japan in the 1980s, as did her now husband, and they were both very...

Re: Planning a trip to South America

Americans must be able to travel to Brazil "right now," or at least my Mom did a few weeks ago. It was a nuisance to get the visa or permit though. I think it cost her $100. If it was dangerous,...

Re: Teaching English Overseas

A relative of mine made $35 an hour teaching English in Japan in the 1980s but I have no idea if this can be matched today. She has a master's degree not just some junky certification for teaching...

Re: 30/60 Canterbury: I have never hit and ran until now... thoughts?

Your story is not hard to understand at all, it's very clear and well written, and you did the right thing.

Not a reason in the world you should stand there and take a load of [censored] from a...

Re: First trip to a casino. -- nice report

If you and your friend are sometimes forced to play at the same table, you can either play your friend as hard as you would play anyone else, or you can try to avoid being in a hand with him. I...

25 hands per hour, she said cynically.

But I've only played at Commerce, although, guys, the food is just as free there or at least no one ever said anything to me about paying for it. And...

Oh, don't worry. If I invoke IWTSTH it's because I think there is a good chance you are cheating. So if you want to look me in the eye and ask me if I think you might be cheating -- as cheaters...

Re: I help rip off an action player

Maybe but I've seen occasional but blatant cheating also in my rare visits. As far as "running the film," I have reason to believe that CAZ surveillance doesn't have a clue. Yeah, you're on your...
