Re: i flop middle set str8 and flush draws are out. you play it

I'm an idiot.

You're right lev, didn't look at ham's stack. Your plan is best, IMO. Call flop. If button calls, get it in on the turn, otherwise look to bet the turn and get it in on the river.

I think calling here is superior to raising for 2 reasons.

1.) His c-bet is really weak and with a hand that strong we want to get all our chips in

2.) Our stack is small enough, so...

[ QUOTE ]
Open shove the first time around. As played call.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think our hand is a little too strong to just open shove from UTG+1. I like raising enough so that if we get one...

Re: A-K - late in tourney

omg you have 14BB and AK, and as if that isn't enough, you've already invested nearly 1/4 of your stack.

what are you waiting for? You want someone to assure you victory before you get your chips...

Re: Bubble Situation What Do You Do?????????

Oh, and the fact that this is the bubble really shouldn't have any effect on your play.

Re: Bubble Situation What Do You Do?????????

lev, first off, I agree with you 100%, that shoving PF here is brutish and playing scared.

I do, however, think that our play needs to be tailored to the stakes, and in a $1 tournament, shoving PF...

Re: 12BB in SB vs CO open shove ~5BB

obv I shoved, and obv I lost to JTo or I never would have gotten into an argument with my roommate over whether or not that was a good spot, resulting in him saying, "I think you can fold there."

Re: Bubble Situation What Do You Do?????????

i don't know that the intention is necessarily to c/f a scary flop, but rather to not fold out hands you have absolutely crushed, hands that might call a reasonable raise, but will fold to a shove.

12BB in SB vs CO open shove ~5BB

I thought this was a clear reshove to isolate against the CO who should be open shoving really wide with 5BB when folded to him. However my roommate feels I could "wait for a better spot."

Re: 200NL - flush facing weird action when board pairs

you're right.

There aren't too many flushes we beat here, and without any solid reads I don't assume that he's check-minraising the turn with just the As.

Re: 200NL - flush facing weird action when board pairs

You shoved, he snap called with 22255, and you were sitting there scratching your head.

You then posted the hand, deciding to throw in your one-orbit read on Villain, I guess in case you got...

Re: 4/180, Flopped a set

[ QUOTE ]
If the CO is a tight player, bet. However if he was aggressive, I'd check to see if the CO wants to go all in with his last 500. This may even induce a call from the big stack, allowing...

Bet the pot. Draw heavy board. Ace will give you action, you may get some draws to fold.

We don't want draws to fold, we want draws to call without the proper odds to...

Re: Turned nuts - C/C on river best option?

I'm a little curious why Early thinks that shoving the river is the best line.

Re: Did I play it badly?

I think you can bet less on the turn, but NOT because you can fold if an A falls on the river. I mean sure, you now have the ability to fold the river if Villain hits his two-outer, but that's not...

Re: Turned nuts - C/C on river best option?

Wow, I need to go to bed. I didn't even really look at the stack sizes.

By folding PF you never find yourself in the position to have to c/c a huge portion of your stack with what is possibly the...

3bet to an amount where you can naturally shove the turn (somewhere around t1800 should do it).

Re: Did I play it badly?

If you think he checks behind on the turn, then you bet. Ideally, if you think he'll bet the turn if you check, then a CRAI is ideal, as you avoid the problem of the overbet.

I probably wouldn't...
