Re: Mason... Sir,

The Engineer has never struck me as one motivated by self-interests ever. He has spent a lot of time, thought and energy trying to help poker players.

Re: How will part-time players survive a regulated poker site?

I don't think anyone really addressed the underlying issue raised by the OP. It seems he was suggesting that online regulation meant the amounts you were winning and losing could be fully disclosed...

Re: Bet Pot Button...hate it or love it?

It is the absolute single worst thing in online poker. It is a total crutch. It aids bad players. It encourages lazy play. It should be removed from every site that has it. But since it helps sites...

Re: Perhaps why you should care about bots and cheats

Stop the bots. Industry should self-police this issue, not the Feds, who really have zero reason to. It's not illegal, just not what poker is about.

As far as 'grinders' go, I have no idea on...

Re: What were you doing a year ago this evening?

I was mourning the loss of PokerRoom, who kicked U.S. players out. I was also blissfully naive, as I multitabled at those sites that still welcomed me.

Oh how I miss the salad days of online...

Re: Reasonable Regulatory Matrix.

Many (most?) U.S. laws have little to do with what actually happens, but rather what could happen.

It doesn't really matter if terrorist money has been transfered using online gaming vehicles....

Re: Reasonable Regulatory Matrix.

There will have to be mechanisms to track money as it flows and transfers around the online gaming economy.

We tend to obsess about the social injustice and hypocrisy of anti-online gaming...

Re: Interesting Discussion: PPA access is there, what use will be made

[ QUOTE ]
So we got dealt a pair of jacks before the draw. That doesn't mean we stand pat. We discard and draw to improve.

Re: IRS Withholding on US Tournament Winnings Starts in 2008

The PPA needs to pick its fights carefully. If they spread themselves out on too many issues, they won't be effective. And if the PPA is to survive (so that it can fight these kinds of tax issues),...

Great article.

This country will pay a heavy price for its arrogance.

I'm sure the WTO has mixed feelings about this issue. On the one hand, they could go down in flames fighting an 800-lb...

Re: Got a letter back from my Congressman

A. Congressman Linder, you say “inclined to oppose it.” Does that mean you haven’t decided yet and are leaning towards a no vote? (Why didn’t he just say, “I will vote no?”)

B. It’s circular to...

Re: MGM\'s \"phases\" to internet gambling....article from 2001......

Politicians have played the B&M side of this issue to its full extent. They've milked it for all it's worth. Now they can hold out their hands to the online gaming industry. So, in a sense, everyone...

Re: Filing as a \"pro\" - minimum number of hours required?

I don't think hours worked has any real bearing on the "pro" vs. "not pro" argument. It just doesn't make any sense.

Take a pro basketball player. How many hours a day do they play and/or...
