Running it twice is usually reserved for high stakes games like PLO. Don't count on it ever happeneing in your local 1-2 or 2-5 NL game.

Sounds to me like it was handeled correctly. You can't prove what the 3rd party told the player in the hand and the floor asked him to step back from the table. I can't see what else could be done.
